This one has just escaped me... I've recently started using trillian for my messaging, and noticed that one of my AOL usernames has a notification that it has mail.
Now, I assume this is AOL email, but I neither subscribe nor plan to. When I go to check it, AOL authenticates my username, but replies that I am not a member; trying to coax me into paying for their wonderful email services et al.
Does AOL actually create full user accounts for all users, whether temporary or members? Is this a ploy to get subscribers?
