Something all expected:

Of course, this starts to raise more and more insecure systems, or instances of cheesy firewalls misconfigured by users. Threats that used to be secluded to universities, then businesses, are now spreading even further. Is such populous under a false premise that systems could ever be marginally secure, even as an ongoing effort?

And for the ISPs:

No, most of them just don't care. Most take the attitude "I'm just a little guy, why would anyone hack me?"

why would we need to have drones.. or hosts to launch from? All these 'little guys' provide just that. (and more)

Isn't that how all those etrade, yahoo, ebay etc... dos attacks were launched a few years back? weren't they launched from drones installed on some linux machines that were left powered on 24/7 on dsl/cable? I don't think think this is that new of an issue, although as the article suggests there has been a huge boom of broadband in areas that you previously did not have as much of this stuff before.
