Discount carrier IDT Corp. is testing consumer Wi-Fi phone service in Newark, N.J.
What they need to do is have a broader testing area to see how well it works.

I think this is why cell phone coverage sucks, they only do testing in one or two areas. What will it be like with the Wi-Fi phone service if they don't test in more areas?

Guess, we will have to wait and see.

If successful, Wi-Fi calling would be one more factor decreasing calling costs and shrinking revenue at traditional carriers.
I'm all for decreasing calling costs, but how much do you think it will cost to get signed up for the service? equipment? taxes? and so forth.
