Hello all. I will be bringing some systems from LANL.gov for hacking without fear of going to prison!

I'm planning on bringing systems running:
Solaris 8
IRIX 6.5
Linux (Probably RH 7.3)
and possibly a 2k domain controller.

I'm working out some details with DEFCON management as to how to get this setup and will keep ya posted.

WiFi isn't a bad idea to make it easier for people to hit the systems, although we don't use it at all here @ LANL.

And no. No rules aside from no physical access. I'll assume you're behind our firewall but not in a locked server vault.

I'll see about getting a LinkSys WAP for the setup.

I just checked into this. Visitor badges are only granted for "official visitis". This means you'd have to have some kind of official business here, be it a job interview, are from another DoE facility and have a meeting here, or are some type of unbadged contractor (printer repair man).

I'm going to try to swing a visit to the VLA (Very Large Array radio telescope), as seen in the movie Contact. It's about 45 miles west of Soccoro (south of Albuquerque).

Oh, and as it turned out, Jeff Moss / Defcon staff never replied to my e-mail. I'm no longer bringing systems out. My e-mail was simply ignored. I will be at the conference to have fun. Who wants to work during DEFCON anyway?

Sorry to hear that, hopefully there will be machines to tinker with. Defcon is all about the fun! :)

I'm really sorry too. I thought it was a great idea. We've had people here do it before, but they didn't bring them out last year. The reason for the change, I recently found out, is that they changed the rules for caputre the flag. I coudln't get any answer or reply from the defcon staff (I even signed with a name they'd know) about how to go about this project.

Also, pressure from work to keep the systems anonymous and unidentafiable really conflicted with how *I* believe this should be done. People don't randomly find machines and then hack them. Government systems are very much targeted systems. I feel I could gain no usefull information if the systems aren't made known, so what's the point?
