Tracking PCs anywhere on the Net

Friend of mine sent me this article the other day:
    http://news.com.com/Tracking+PCs+any...3-5600055.html
The actual paper its talking about is here:
    http://www.caida.org/outreach/papers...erprinting.pdf
Haven't had a chance to read completely through the paper though it seems like some interesting stuff. Wondering what other people's thoughts are on the implications of this. Whether or not it seems technically feasible etc.

It is technically feasible, but it is also easily disabled. I wouldn't be surprised if the major open-source operating systems included protections against such an attack in the future.

Still, it is a very rigorous study of a topic that pops up every now and then.
