As if everyone needed another event to help them get drunk at the AP, I propose a Beer Pong tournament.

I'm not sure about a format, though round robin would be good for the first day to narrow the teams down to a final bracket on Saturday.

Drinking games are for amateurs.

Drinking games are for amateurs.

Theres also the problem that everyone and their mother has different rules for drinking games and theres some sort of law that requires people to challenge every single difference between their rules and the house rules. We'd lose two days to "THE CUPS HAVE TO BE IN A DIAMOND IF THERES FOUR LEFT!!!" -> "NO THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN A SQUARE YOU NOOB!!! AND WHY ARE THE CUPS CLEAR PLASTIC?!?!? BEER PONG CAN ONLY BE PLAYED WITH RED CUPS!!!" -> "BEER PONG?!?!? YOU IDIOT ITS CALLED BEIRUT!!!" etc etc etc.

Wow...talk about digging up old posts. I'd nearly forgotten that I'd made this suggestion. Having not seen the layout at the new venue (pool), the tournament may not be as feasible.

I'd also concur with the issue of house beerpong rules. Usually these squabbles are handled in my basement with the simple statement "it's my house so they're my rules."

Since then I've come up with a better idea which I'll share later on.

"BEER PONG?!?!? YOU IDIOT ITS CALLED BEIRUT!!!"heh, i have to hash that out time and time again with people. i just can't get them to totally understand, even when i ask, "are you holding a paddle... or even a block of wood with which to smack the ball? then you're not playing ping-pong, now, are you?"

I say we do it right. Old school pong console, video projector, large wall. A shot per point scored against.

Winner through elimination, or whoever's standing at the end.

=] I have a working "Old School Pong Console" and I can picture quite a few of us getting into the game a little too much. But I do like the concept of setting up a game/event like this.
