What is the best rental car deal you found for Las Vegas?
We're paying $260 (taxes included) for a mini van from Monday-Monday. We're renting from Dollar. If you join their Dollar Express program (free) you get a bit of a discount.

Two days, unlimited mileage $92.00 from Hertz with pickup/drop-off at the Riviera.
Was looking at Dollar for a mid Wednesday to Monday for about $180. That $92 deal doesn't sound bad, as all we would likely use it for is the BBQ.

4 days, unlimited miles for $98 though Avis.
Check with your auto insurance agent, most likely your policy will cover any damage you might have in a accident so you dont have to pay out the hose for the rental cars company's extra insurance. This will save alot of money in renting cars. But make sure you check with your agent because no all of them work the same way.
Another tip for booking car is to book early and check prices often. There is no charge to cancel a reservation, as long as it is not within a couple of day of the reservation.
I booked my car right after Defcon 14 was announced and changed my reservation a couple of times since then to get cheaper rates.
Hope those tips helps

If its just going and coming to the BBQ, you might be better off hiring a limo for the time period and finding another 5-8 warm bodies to help split the costs.

I go to vegas two or three times a year and have learned that Thrifty has competitive prices, ample cars and efficient shuttle buses from the air port.
My vote goes to Thrifty
--BC,
Hmmm, interesting thought!
Guess I could take a cab to the store Wednesday to pick up supplies. Will look into this, thanks for the suggestion!
Anyone else interested?

I reserved a compact car through www.foxrentacar.com for around $14 per day (not including insurance etc). they are located in the arrival area of the airport and are open 24/7. I used them a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised. Be aware that cabs can be hard to get hold of, and that at certain hotels/casinos there might be a 30-45min queue. Of course, most things are within walking distance, but depending on your heat tolerance it might make sense to drive instead.

I just took a look at the website and got this message:
We're sorry! There are no vehicles available for your selected pickup date and location. Click here to look for rates for a different day, or city.
You all must have beat me to it ;)

Yeah, I got the same thing.
Ended up going with a 1 day rental (basically just for TBBQ) from the Hertz at the Riviera. ~55 bucks for a full size with free upgrade coupons and AAA.
