I am trying to get together an alternate place that everyone can hang out and party if the pool/outside area becomes an issue at night during the conference.
Anyone else interested in putting something together?

because the chill out area up stairs, no one uses..
with out a pool this year, it has been a drag..
there is no where to unwind, after long, brain warping day.
security is doing it's job.. but TOO well.. they shut down the White Ball very early. For some unknown reason.. the Riv started to fill the Monoco tower (the one that is suppose to have nothing but defcon attendees.) with normal people.. on the 63rd floor.. 1 floor under the White ball (aka drum and bass....)
the con has great space.. but... in the end the Riveria is a bit too big for us, and not as willing to subdue to the might that is the biggest hacking con.

I wouldn't say it's too big, simply that the size and location of the blocks for DC folks could be tweaked slightly. the DC attendees (with the numbers I heard rumors of) could possibly fill an entire tower.

Why was there no DJ's out near the dunk booth? A better organised layout of the hang out room/contest area and the outside area might worked.

A better organised layout of the hang out room/contest area and the outside area might worked.maybe we can setup kiddie pools... or those inflatable family pools. add some mock palm trees and maybe even some truckloads of sand, perhaps a few tiki torches... that could make for a terrific outdoor setup.

too bad these ideas couldn't be tied into something like a $2-5 EFF donation, aside from the dunktank to make sure that folks hanging out for the surroundings didn't take away from the dunks.

We can fill the chill-out area with sand and a dozen little pools, just tell security it is for a physics demo on water displacement and the effects of alcohol!
