View Full Version : T-Shirt Challenge Contest Still Going
No one has solved the Training Camp Defcon challenge (found on the T-Shirts and business cards we handed out). $1,000 cash prize goes to the first person who completes all of the puzzles. I saw several people getting close at the conference, but as of 10:30am EST on Tuesday, no one has solved them all yet.
Here's the initial clue that leads to the other challenges:

Please post a write up when it's over. This thing is great; alas, work beacons.

Well I got to challenge 4 easily with no problems, and now I have hit a brick wall. I believe I'm working with the right raw data. Its just getting it into a suitable form to submit thats got me.

Yeah I want to know too :p
This is great. Thanks for taking the time to make it :)

pretty easy fun so far- but smells like an elaborate advertisement designed to lure hackers, no?

So is this a rip off? I solved it on the second day of Defcon, the last page said they would post the winner and all others who solved it on 9/1/06, see it here:

Web developers only update content after at least two requests, three requests if you don't count the first one which they typically completely ignore.

Actually, re-reading your post, I think we got a problem. Your post is dated 8/8. Yet it seems you did have winners as of that date according to conversations with your Director of Marketing as well as my own solving of it on 8/5. What gives?

I think I see the problem. You were told you were a winner to throw you off the scent. In reality, there are still puzzles to be solved that you simply haven't found yet.
Very clever...

Actually, the only way you could even think you were a winner was to go through the 10 or so challenges that ended with a webpage where you entered the final phrase as well as your contact info.
The problem was that the sponser are too tech savey. Seems they never heard of DHCP so if they didn't have a record of a single ip going through the entire set of challenges, they suspected that you cheated....gotta love it, they teach hackers, LOL
