Okay, so as far as I know no one else did this last year, but Gilley's (http://www.gilleyslv.com/) across the street from the Riv, at the Frontier, has a mechanical bull.

Some friends and I went over, in our cups, as it were, and rode it. Hilarity ensued.

I see a contest somewhere, dammit. Rounding up a few hundred hackers for line dancing and bull riding is just a DC moment that to me is not too be missed.

I have neither time nor inclination to move beyond typing the above, but if someone else is interested in making this a contest, please do.

Longer term, getting the pinouts for the joystick the bull operator (bull jockey?) runs, and a challenge where folks actually code up different rides, would be cool, but I'm assuming it would require some cooperation from the Gilley's folks.

Count me in, I've heard great things about Gilley's. Strippers, steak and bullriding? Sounds like a winner to me!

Sounds good to me, except for the line dancing.

Best music in the world. But I warn you that you must be careful. C&W, women with southern accents and cold beer can put you in a state of mind where you will never go back to the big band stuff.

On May 16, 2007, it was announced to the 1,000+ employees of the New Frontier that the property would be closing on July 16, 2007.

If it's AT the New Frontier, you may want to re-evaluate this plan.

In fact, the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor may be the best piece of music ever written. For "popular" music, the late Warren Zevon is the right up there. That shouldn't be too surprising though since he was classically trained and had amazing arraignments.

I really can't stand C&W. If that's what you like though, have at it. To each his own.

If I remember right it physically has a separate door, but as I recall (in a bit of a fog) it was connected to the casino / hotel itself.

I will see what I can find out. Maybe someone in LV knows more... Hackajar?

Feh. Well, we had fun last year. I think our top score was something like 15 seconds. Of course, one of my friends lasted only slightly longer than that in a nonmoving booth at Peppermill.

Yeah, I suck. I should have got something going with this last year. Damn you, Trump!!!

Swing from the trapeze at Circus Circus? Scale the mast at Treasure Island? Beat up a hobo at the El Cortez?

Damn that sucks ... Great idea too, know anywhere else in vegas that has a mechanical bull? Shouldn't call it quits just yet.

There was the bar in Olongapo City in the Philippines that had a mechanical bull back in the mid-1980's. A group of six of us once went there an an Radioman2nd class that worked for me was able to ride anything and everything they threw at him. Long lanky guy from Texas but he could certainly ride a bull.

The bull had four speed settings. I was able to ride the full 15-seconds on speed level 2 with under four beers in me. As the speed or number of beers increase, the worse my performance.
