Hello ppl,

This will be my first defcon :D, I have been planning this for 3 years now and finally with some b.lls and short on cash I'm going. I'll be staying at the villa roma the closest/cheapest motel that I found. I'll be going to the black hat briefings too, and if I can sell some things maybe a training.

If someone know which course is better foundstone VS sensepost ?? you'll help me decide.

I'm thinking on participating on the only contest that maybe I'll not be p0wned, the coffee wars. Bringing one of the best coffee's in Guatemala, from the highest mountain of Guatemala on la sierra de los cuchumatanes near chichicastenango :P.

I'll hope to make friends because I'm traveling alone and don't know no one.
If someone knows a few tips for the first DEFCON please post them.

Thanks

Just introduce yourself to people and you'll have a great time.

I would suggest skipping both and saving your money by doing Offensive Security's (http://www.offensive-security.com/training.php) training instead. But if you must, yeah, SensePost.

As was said, just walk up to people and talk and you'll find most folks are very open and friendly. We're here to share information and learn.

My rule: the people with the attitudes who make you feel unwelcome (not that there are many, anymore), ALWAYS know the least.

You might go introduce yourself to Alfredo (http://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-15/dc-15-speakers.html#Ortega), he may be able to introduce you to some other folks from CA/SA.

Did you try Circus Circus? It's very cheap (I think around $40 a night), and it's right across the street from the Riv.

Abby - Maybe we should adopt him.

Hi, I already bought the offensive security videos and they are great :D.

I was searching for rooms at the circus circus but the average price is like 79$, so i'll stay with the villa roma for now.

Thx. for the tips ppl!! I'll hope I won't get so shy hehehehe.

Hmm, that depends...

1. How much can he lift?
2. Does he know what is and isn't the proper use for a can of Red Bull
3. Can he hammer a six-inch spike through a board with his penis?

Ha, good point Abby! I'm always looking for a new friend at DC ;)

Adopt? Maybe a trial run, Dallas.

Oh, I'm looking forward to this year. I love meeting new folks...

Hey, L34ndr4, any chance you're gonna be brewing a pot of that Guatemalan ? I'd be down for that... Let me know.

In a month I'm sharing a house with a coffee fiend from Ecuador, and he's bringing a generous amount of beans :D Woot woot.
