    Simple elevator hacking

I just thought this was interesting, no reason really. ;-)

I wonder if this works in all elevators?

    good stuff abby
If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?

it works in a lot of ones that i've tried. the only thing that seems to vary is how long you have to hold the buttons in together. as the video stated, 4 to 5 seconds seems to work rather well. in that video, however, i noticed that the button lights appeared to all perform some sort of indicator blink when the guy was sending the command in, i don't recall seeing that happen when i've done it.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Great ... now we will have thousands of hackers testing this on the elevators at the Riviera!

We'll be taking the stairs if anyone does this, you know. Hack Circus Circus. Anyone who hacks the elevator where they are staying will go scuba diving and hack their own air supply a hundred feet down. DUH!

Problem with this, is that many nerds/geeks are not exactly fit. By the time they finished going up or down the stairs to their room, they wouldn't be able to catch or even chase someone even if they knew who it was.

On the other hand, some of them might have radios, or phones, which can send signals that travel much faster than most people*

            * Except Ninjas-- they can travel faster than light. They arrive before they leave.

Between this, and the piece on Apartment Intercom security in the latest issue of 2600, the coming year will be interesting. I see a lot of stairs, and calls to the building supervisor when I get locked out of my apartment, in my future.

I'd be interested in seeing if it works, of course, but I'm going to try it on an elevator system that I don't use every day.

                    Re: Simple elevator hacking

I got freaked out about the elevators last year and tried taking the stairs. I then realized it's pretty tiring to climb 15 flights of stairs.
