One of the things I notice missing from the Defcon 16 page this year is a mention of discounted room rates. Will there be a Defcon rate available for rooms this year, or has that been phased out/not negotiated yet?

There will be a discounted rate, the info and link will be posted soon.

Ah, ask and I shall receive
http://defcon.org/html/defcon-16/dc-16-venue.html links to the discounted reservation page. And I have reports that Riviera phone reservations are aware of the rate also.

The DEFCON rate is $98.00/night. I just did much better than that with my Riviera "Players Card". Yesterday I booked THU-SUN for $50, $60, $60, $50. That's a much better deal. If you have a players card, I suggest you call and try to get rooms at that rate. I should point out that this deal came in a mailing I received and that I am by no means a big gambler.

Just think of the discount you could have received if you only had the Telly Savalas Players Club Gold Card (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IP0vLZZBHU)!

I believe in the past you could get "standard" rooms for a lower rate and the DefCon rooms were "Deluxe" rooms. Not sure what the deal is this year.
Also noted the on-line reservation did not provide a means of requesting a discounted upgrade. I managed to get a small suite last year for next to nothing about the regular DefCon room rate and was hoping to do the same this year.
