Here's an idea worth exploring:

How about a Friday night party which is nothing but 80s new wave, alternative dance, and the like? (think Depeche Mode, New Order, OMD, etc)

Would you attend?

Flock of Seagulls
Psychedelic Furs
Art of Noise
Devo
The Clash
Haircut 100
Alphaville
Naked Eyes
Madness
Sex Pistols
Duran Duran
The Cure
The Fixx

BTW, I don't think there was such a thing as 'alternative' in the 80's that's something that came out purely in the 90's, which was a decade of music that should be forgotton.

I'd be there. Not sure I could still fit in my parachute pants (or if I even still have them) though. I may have some Heather Thomas posters for decorations somewhere.

Someone had better show up in a Member's Only jacket...

Heheheh, well I was just proposing a party where I spin nothing but 80s music all night, but hey, if you want to drag out the color block shirts, the elaborate Howard Jones sweaters, and the Ray-Ban Wayfarers, then that's cool too :)

we can have the video for Les Rythmes Digitales - What's That Sound (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7UWWWbwc-ag) as a piece of mood art. hah.

Yes I would, and would be up for DJing it as well.

Yes, but I don't think I could ever go back to using that much hair spray again to achieve the good'ol 80's big hair.

So is it gonna happen or what? I have to admit that the thought of Rick Astley being played makes me want to puke. I didn't like him back in the 80's to begin with.

Oy, now I'm really regretting not being able to make it out to DefCon this year. At least I have Let's Trashy, the '80's themed party at the anime convention I go to in September.

I bet we can even get some of the old bands back. No doubt they'd love to play Vegas!

Don't forget Simple Minds, and pretty much any band that was part of a soundtrack to a John Hughes film...

Man I love John Hughes films...

So is anybody actually planning on having an 80s party or is this all just a big 80s jerk circle?
