How will you spend time at DC12?

Each year DC draws people from diverse backgrounds with various intentions.

If you do not have some idea of what you want to do, you may find you spend all of your time doing nothing that is memorable. Some people wake up on Sunday and realize the have not learned anything and others feel they spent too much time in the lectures and not enough time having fun. Some walk away wishing they had played in one of the games, and others are wondering about the effectiveness of RU486 or special medicines for a rash that does not seem to be going away.

How do you intend to spend *most* of your time at DefCon 12:

1) Listening to the speakers on TV or in the conference room
You want the low-down, the dirt, the data, the info, the white papers
2) Being part of CTF, WarDrive competition, or other games
You want to show off your skills, play in some fun, and/or compete
3) Playing video games on your computers on the LAN
You like 3D FPS or strategy games, and want to # make fragged-people && make install-grenade-down-the-throat
4) Drinking and/or Socializing with complete strangers / new friend / old friends
Just as it says: hanging out.
5) Watching TV (other than DC) from my hotel room
Watching television channels other than those which are part of DC
6) Seeing all of the other Las Vegas Shows
This includes things like strippers, show girls, blue man, etc.
7) Putting out fires created by cluebies / working
If you select this, you are probably not only a Goon, but a responsible Goon.
8) Unconscious / tagged / pepetual member of Pool 3 / Watching or making porn
Um. You know who you are.
9) I am so clueless I can't begin to guess how I will spend my time at DC12
This is for people who are too stressed to decide and have no imagination.

This year I'm hoping to make it to more than the last 20 minutes of the forum meet... Last year was great from the standpoint of drinking Che's Russian Stout, but it'd be nice to talk to more than five people :)

I'll be trying to catch more talks than just those of friends. Sometimes it's hard to get away. I'll of course be making sure the events I am involved with go smooth, the movie channel stays up, and that my speech goes well. And of course, I'll be hanging out with all of you guys.

I actually drank the last one of those from that very batch (almost 2 years old!) last night.. I thought of ya. I gotta brew more of that ASAP. I have one you will like, I'll save one for you if ya take the time to drink it with us. :)
(Same goes for noid... I spent half the con chasing him around last year to give him his brew... then he could only sample it. )
You guys should be able to declare "drinking amnisty" for at least 30 min while on duty. :)

Ahh so true.... that is so crowded as people try to get what they want before supplies run out. I'm one of those people who is usually over by the book sales. I have picked up a few cheap, used books over the years, and other books are in limited supply. Some titles are subversive enough that I prefer to pay in cash, in person, and there is no paper-trail. (No, I am not paranoid... really!)

As for missing this item, I had a few other items I wanted to put in the list, but the forum only allows for 10 items in a poll. :-/

There are a lot of people here that I want to put a face to!

For 3-5 days of the year I find myself surrounded by thousands of like-minded people who (for the most part) are there to have a good time. The general insanity of those days is enough to keep me going for another year.

My list (by no means complete):
- Meeting and hanging out with as many of you fine people as possible
- Collecting debts from people who owe me beer
- Distributing beer to those I owe one
- Collecting autographs from several authors in attendance
- Setting up camp to see who/when the fountain gets soaped
- Participating in several competitions
- Heckling Winn Shwartau
- Hunting down Siviak to get my bucket back
- Drinking a warp core breach in under 5 minutes
- Buying my own body weight in t-shirt
- Coming home with a device/gadget that I have no idea if I can get past Customs
- Generally annoying Americans with my Canadian partiotism
- Collecting a 3 inch stack of business cards from people I meet
- Checking out other peoples BBQ creations

I'm going up there and it won't be so bad until the 1st/2nd. The con ends around 3 PM on the 1st usually and I have until the 2nd at around 6-7 AM.

That option wasn't forgotten, it just wasn't appropriate. If you're looking for a room, consider visiting the Ride and Room Sharing section of the forums. That's where the vast majority of people communicate about sharing rooms.

Depends

It all depends. Depending on the amount of alcohol and coffee i take in, I'll either be socializing and hanging out at the events or spending hours on end puking and taking smelly, liquidy dumps in my cheap ass hotel room. Personally I prefer the first.

Can't wait for Coffee Wars V. Lessa get wired!!
