SUMMARY:Red Team Village CFP at DEF CON 28 closes July 1 2020
DESCRIPTION:Register for the CFP Here https://forms.gle/5dpnQL2uzGJb69he8\n
\n\n\n\nIt’s the 28th year of DEF CON and we are proud to announce anot
her year of the Red Team Offense Village! We have a lot of exciting things
planned\, including a dedicated speaker track focused on Red Team / Offen
se topics. With that said\, this is the call for papers for that speaker t
rack. If you have a talk that is appropriate for our village\, please subm
it ASAP as slots are limited and filling quickly.\n\nIF YOU WANT TO SUBMIT
A PROPOSAL TO PRESENT\, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:\n\n The DEF CON Red Te
am Offense Village does not accept product or vendor related pitches.\n If
your briefing is a thinly-veiled advertisement for a new product or servi
ce your company is offering\, please do not apply. There are plenty of "ve
ndor" conferences that will accept that nonsense\, please submit to one of
those\, don’t waste our time or yours. If your briefing is accepted and
you perform a bait and switch\, you will be banned for life.\n SUBMISSION
REQUIREMENTS\n\nAll presentations must be submitted by the original autho
rs.\n\nWe currently only accept submissions by original authors of the pre
sentations. PR firms\, speaking relation firms\, and all other parties who
are not direct authors of submitted presentations ARE NOT ALLOWED to subm
it materials on behalf of speakers or presenters. If it is obvious the aut
hor did not submit the briefing themselves\, you will be banned for life.\
n\nWe require direct contact with presenters to expedite questions from th
e reviewers and to fulfill Speaker Obligations.\n\nHow long should the tal
k be?\nThe following time slots are available and it is expected that the
presenters will budget time for audience participation and Q&A within this
time frame:\n\n- Normal presentations: 45-60 minutes\n- Short presentatio
ns: 15-30 minutes\n\nSelection Criteria\nPresentations will be reviewed th
rough a voting process by the Red Team Offense Village CFP Review Board. S
ubmissions are rated on a one to ten scale by each of the reviewers in fou
r areas\, and the resulting scores are added up. Those submissions with th
e highest scores are considered first. The majority of finalized briefings
will require a live video interview\, via WebEx prior to any final accept
ance. In the case of topic overlap a lesser scoring submission may be sele
cted to keep variety and diversity in the program. As the complexity and s
pecialization of submissions grow more reviewers are added to the process.
\n\nIf your briefing does not meet all four selection criteria listed belo
w it will be automatically rejected:\n\n- Technical Depth\n- Technical Bre
ath\n- Technical Accuracy\n\nPeople submitting a briefing proposal will re
ceive an email notification that the Red Team Offense Village review team
has received the proposal generally within 30 days of receipt of the submi
ssion. Once the review and selection process has been completed you will r
eceive an email confirmation of acceptance or rejection.\n\nAll presentati
ons must be vendor neutral (no sales pitches for services or products are
permitted). All sources of information\, software\, etc. should be properl
y cited.\n\nWhat kind of talks are we looking for?\n\n Talks related to th
e Red Team Methodology.\n New trends and lessons learned about Red Teaming
.\n Briefings that are highly technical\, reveal new ways Red Teams can op
erate.\n Submissions with detailed bibliographies acknowledging prior work
in the space\, distinguishing or highlighting how your presentation is di
fferent. We believe this is important to help move the security community
to a more professional\, inclusive and respected position.\n Since securit
y is a technical field\, hands-on demonstrations that visually explain the
theory will assist greatly for the audience to grasp and learn the conten
 t. However\, there are also times when the subject is more abstract and vi
sual demos might not be best suited to explain the topic\, consider the br
eath of your briefing prior to submission.\n OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES\nBy spe
aking at the DEF CON Red Team Offense Village you are granting us permissi
 on to distribute\, disseminate\, advertise\, modify\, market\, include in
other marketing materials and to show your presentation including but not
 limited to our website\, Twitter\, Facebook\, Youtube\, other media\, prin
 ted and/or electronic ads\, fliers\, mailers\, etc.\n\nLogistics: The even
t takes place in the New Caesars Forum\, Harrahs\, Linq & Flamingo\, in La
s Vegas\, USA during DEF CON\, please arrive early to the site. We will no
t be paying for travel\, hotel or other expenses. You will receive promoti
on of your talk on social media\, websites\, and other forms of media cove
 rage.\n\nTHANK YOU!\n\nRed Team Offense Village
