SUMMARY:IntelOps - Operation Spacewatch\, Friday 10:00-18:00
DESCRIPTION:.. \n \n\n..\nIntelOps - Operation Spacewatch\nFriday: 10:00
 – 18:00\nDEF CON Contest Area\, Forum Ballroom\n\n\nWelcome to IntelO
ps - Operation Spacewatch! This is a game that pits you against threat act
ors in the near future\, who are trying to trigger nuclear war! Using cybe
r threat intelligence\, it is up to you to support cyber protection teams
to defend a vital satellite constellation and prevent a hacker network fro
m undermining your collective defense in a race against time.\n\nDescripti
on of the game\n\nCyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) deals with information f
rom past attacks\, malware analysis and evolving threats in cyberspace. CT
I enables enhanced decisions and getting ahead of the cyber-attack. But ho
w can I apply CTI and use it? The game "IntelOps - Operation Spacewatch" a
ims to improve players' understanding of CTI. Participants learn about dif
ferent frameworks\, sources and types of CTI and how they can use CTI data
in a fun way. The game is built to teach terms and theory and apply CTI i
n a real-world context.\n\nThe game is based on four major CTI and cyber s
ecurity models. These are the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF)\, MITRE
ATT&CK Matrix\, the Cyber Kill Chain and the Pyramid of Pain.\n\nAs a play
er\, you are part of the United Nations (UN) CTI team and assigned to the
mission to stop the attack on the satellite constellation. Your task is to
use the available CTI your team has collected and assist the other member
s of the UN Cyber Protection Team (CPT).\n\nThe players find themselves in
a near future scenario where every nation has access to ballistic-launche
d nuclear weapons. The United Nations has established a global satellite d
efense system to detect ballistic and hypersonic missile launches for moni
toring and control purposes. The defense system allows the UN to be able t
o react immediately when suspicious activities on the weapons are detected
. A global hacker network is threatening to disable the satellite constell
ation to use nuclear weapons for their purposes.\n\nYour team has to prote
ct 32 satellites in the global defense system. If 4 or more satellites are
compromised and deactivated\, the hacker network successfully disenabled
the defense system and can take control of the nuclear weapons. It is your
mission to protect the satellite network and ensure the availability of t
he global defense system.\n\nThe event will host three simultaneous instan
ces of a team game. Teams consist of three players each. Nine players can
play at a time. Every game last 20 minutes in total. Each turn\, the playe
rs have 5 minutes to decide on their CTI strategy\, apply the information
to the NIST CSF board and stop the attack. There are a maximum of four tur
 ns to a game.\n
