anybody been keeping tabs on this little bit of tech? what thoughts on uses and possible exploits do you have or maybe praise for those who've already dropped a bill for one?

Soulidium (So-li-de-um) The place within us that contains the mystical spirit and soul of our creative artistry. A place where the fabric of our lives and experiences are transformed into their artistic equivalents; A housing for the very voice of our souls...

I have used one, albeit briefly. It seemed to be a decent piece of tech. The ability to have the images transfer without having to do any real work was nice. Though, I had pondered the possibilities of another eye-fi receiver in the vicinity, and what type of problems this would produce. I assume there is an encryption of sorts between tx and rx, but as it wasnt mine I didnt have the time to look into it too closely.

One thought I had was to have an eye-fi style setup, pictures automatically going to a flickr/picasa stream, then the stream being automatically pulled onto a monitor. Imagine this type of setup in relation to the NinjaNetworks shout-wall last year.

On that note, perhaps cell phone pictures could be sent to the flickr stream for a view of what other people are experiencing during said gathering.

Ah, if only I had the money to hand a task like this. It would be fun.
Of course its fully cooked... we had it set on "linen".

I had one. Returned it. It does not upload to a PC (ad-hoc) but to a router. So much for field work. I complained and they told me to stick it.

I sense an opportunity to offer a bounty for hacking ad-hoc networking into the EYE-fi, anyone interested?

My eye.fi pro X2 works perfectly.

It does ad-hoc wifi with my laptop, and transfers images to it without any issue. i'd be happy to show anyone how it works.

Had I know anyone had problems, I would have shown you at Defcon.

Have you ever BEEN to Defcon?
