I ALWAYS stay at the Amerisuites. I have had nothing but good experiences there. I can't stay at the AP. I need to get away for a couple of hours to sleep and not deal with DC stuff.
ahhh the alexis...

Not So..
I just called to check, and there is nothing needed but a credit card that they can charge one night to. I even asked if they were telling anyone anything in regards to DCX.
Try again.

I have stayed at the AP for as long as DC has been there, otherwise I stayed in or around the same places it was hosted. Though no more tshirts with the latest places blown up recorded on the back... Anyhow about 2 years back we got into our room and my buddy had to use the restroom, about a second later he said, said come check this out... so I walked over and saw there were about a million fleas all over the tile jumping all around... so we called the office, they came over and mopped the place up.. with like water... that didn't kill them and after they left they were back like gangbusters.. so we walked over to the liquore store on the corner and bought some bug spray (or binaca), not too clear on which.. and just started spraying all the tile and then wiped it down.. we then proceeded to check everything else to make sure we wouldn't be eaten alive when we were sleeping.. (part of the biological/electronic bug checks..) ;)
Last year was ok, not really in the room too much... except when I tried the upstairs tent area for a while and then seemed to get too hot so went to the room and flicked on the dc channel on the tv and turned that AC all the way up.. WHICH KEPT FREEZING btw.. and kept shutting down.. damn cheap thing.
I have a few stories about my stays during the AP stays... but perhaps i will bring them up another time...
I am there again this year, and stay because i learned my lesson from previous cons that waking up and taking a shower with that tiny bar of soap and just walking a few feet to eat something and walking right into the con is the way to go!.. not waiting for pals to drive, or waiting to flag down a taxi... also playing with the wifi net, watching trippy music mixes on the dc channel, watching some of the con in the room... and just having fun all around....
my only real complaint is that cheap ATM that only accepts like 6 or so pins, or else it keeps resetting the menu...Comment

Man, that is gross! I'm glad I'm not stayin' there. My wife would kill me if I booked us there and we had a problem like that. As far as wifi net goes, I'm hoping to find one I can use elsewhere!
;)
Also, it'll be me driving. No waiting on anyone here. Unless of course I end up having to call the wife to grab a taxi and come drive me back to our hotel!

I would check out the Amerisuites. It is pretty nice, less than a 3 minute walk from the AP, so you can get as drunk as you want and not have to WORRY about driving, and you can actually get away from the madness for a few minutes if you want.perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'Comment

I stayed at the Key Largo the first year DC was at the Alexis, because I waited too long to book a room, it wasn't too far, and it was cheap. It wasn't close enough to stumble back to in an inebriated condition, though, so I ended up sleeping on a lot of floors. I stay at the Alexis now... MUCH easier!the fresh princess of 1338
What did I do to make you think I give a shit?Comment

I've stayed at the Tropicana the last two cons... Ran into a few people there with DC badges (including this really hot girl in a pink dress... mmm, pink dress girl)...
Staying at the AP this year, though. It just felt like I was missing out on too much by not being at the hotel... Plus having to leave the place while I was still awake/sober enough to drive the few blocks to my hotel...Comment

Staying at AP makes the con complete. I never saw the scrolling sign, but I did meet a lot of interesting people at the oddest hours. Defcon had other hotels but I think this is a record for the same hotelo for a given number of years. Enjoy it while it lasts!Comment

Yeah, for some reason the AP actually LIKES having us there....go figure.Originally posted by astcell
