Regarding songs that aren't in our song list... we are taking requests. Provided the song isn't too obscure we'll try to track down a CD+G version so you actually get the lyrics.

We aren't going to have a realtime vocal eliminator available, sorry.

If you really want to go down this road with a super obscure song, I would suggest using the AnalogX vocal eliminator, which works as a Winamp plugin:

    http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...r/Freeware.htm

It allows you to adjust how aggressive it is. On some songs it works great. On others it either fails to fully remove the vocals or trashes the instrumentation.

You can play with the little slider thing and try to find a nice balance between how much of the vocals are removed and trashing the instrumentation. Keep in mind it is okay to leave some of the vocals in the track. This is particularly helpful when trying to sing without lyrics because you might forget when the vocals start/end.

agreed. we are in no way trying to steal thunder and originally it was conceptually going to be offsite, but we thought long and hard and we want to keep as much fun as possible, and kudos to hackajar and the rest of the folks at karaokecon (I will try to make it f I can get out of works early) but as bascule said we were just wanting to do something onnsite that everyone can participate in and share in the lulz and all the epic wins and fails provided by everyone :)

    Cheers,
    OD

I've wanted to go to Sushicon for the past several years but trying to stretch my trip out to Wednesday has always proven a bit of a problem.

No Sushi-con on Wednesday? Don't worry! Just show up at Peppermill (next to Riv) at 10:00PM Wednesday night. We will be getting our swerve on until 11:30PM when we all caravan (via Taxi) to Karaoke-Con 3.
Yeah, in no way are we trying to compete with these events, but hopefully it will be nice having it on site during the con itself :)

Believe me, if I could just snag the dude's collection I'd be down to host the whole thing myself. That might require a bit of social engineering.

I meant to meet up with him tonight but the bar was booked for a private party... lame. At least the bartender chick gave me free booze... woo!

Well, I updated the web site.

Not sure what OverDose is thinking, but we'll probably get it started at 9 then I guess? We'd like to have time to get set up and check everything out before officially getting started.

    Maybe 8pm?

Awesome! I'm trying to locate a pro karaoke DJ who might run the event. Locally I know one who has 850GB of (legit) CD+G images of karaoke songs, and he says he knows some people who may hopefully have a similar setup. I'll find out late next week.
