Long ago there was talk of "stegfs", a steganographic filesystem. I don't know how far it managed to get, but it pretty much seemed the project was buggy and broken.

I just found out about TrueCrypt, which appears to be a stable, bona fide, cross-platform steganographic filesystem:

Sounds sweet... perhaps one of the more interesting features is the ability to install a hidden operating system

    Re: TrueCrypt

TrueCrypt is pretty nifty. I use it with my EEE to keep my /home encrypted on a removable SD that I can mount after boot, otherwise there is a default unsensitive /home loaded.

      Re: TrueCrypt

I'm using dmcrypt for a couple of my linux boxen. Everything but the boot partition is encrypted. Unless my usb thumb drive in plugged in with the keyfile, it won't boot.

I've been using TrueCrypt for awhile and I'm a fan. It's great for encrypting your thumb-drive so you don't have to sweat losing it.

          Re: TrueCrypt

I have been using it for some time.. it does rule all. Be forewarned however, I have had issues with volumes made on version 5.x for windows not working for 4.x on linux... but they will work visa-versa.

Also, be careful about encrypting thumb-drives devices on a device level.. if you stick it in a windows box it will say it is not formatted and offer to do it for you.. which would be disastrous..

Still.. awesome fucking product. The fact that you can create hidden partitions rules all.
