Kickoff post here... Queercon is officially on for its 5th year! Thanks to everyone who showed up last year, and we hope this year will be bigger and better.
As with last year, Queercon will be divided into two sub-events: a mixer and the club event.
The mixer will start at 4pm on Friday, in the same skybox bar as 2007 (to be confirmed). The purpose is to allow GLBT members of the hacker community to meet and have the opportunity to solidify our own sub-community, or at least make friends. Last year we had more than 30 people attend, and we certainly hope to see even more this year.
The main event, Club Queercon, will get rolling around 10pm. Again, the plan is to use the same skybox bar as the mixer and as last year. Once confirmed, exact location and directions will be posted. With a staffed bar, glowy party favors, and several confirmed DJs, this should be a blast. Last year's attendance hovered probably around 150 -- I was too drunk to count.
If you come for the mixer and show your pride, the first 30 will get a Club drink on us. More details will be posted here and on our website, www.queercon.org.
