This thread is where I'd like people to post if they are going to participate in the new DEFCON Shoot. As a reminder, here are the two price options you're looking at...

$180 for Class-III rockin' fun - This is a three-weapon package for anyone who wants to seriously destroy some targets. You get an AK-47, an M-4, and an MP-5... each with a 25-round magazine. Burst fire or full-on rock and roll, anything goes. In addition to blazing up with the NFA weapons, people paying the $180 can then just hang out on the rest of the range, shooting their own weapons or other people's gear (if they let you) for free.

$35 for basic range usage - This flat fee is for people who are just showing up to shoot their own gear or hang with friends and shoot their weapons. (If i know you at all and think you responsible, you can also shoot my guns since i'll be bringing some for people to use.)

Keep in mind that the overall deal is that the range needs to see about $3000 total. They are expecting to officially get $200 per Class-III shooter, but we're spreading costs out among all people via that $35 "basic shooter fee" so that the Class-III folk aren't unfairly carrying the costs for everyone. We can play a bit in the margins I think, but that's what we're looking at overall.

So... if we get a dozen Class-III shooters and maybe 12 to 15 "basic" shooters i can pretty much pull it off (provided i pony up some money out of pocket for incidentals and to cover any shortfalls, etc.)

So let's make it happen! Post your intentions here... please let me know which option interests you and how many friends (if any) you might bring along, as well. We can do this, people, i know it!

Whats the deal on safety equipment? Should I bring some extra stuff?

Chalk me up for the basic plan, I'm living in a Class-III restrictive state, but not for much longer...

Also there might be last minute bumps to that $35 plan if that is an option.

I'm up for the regular plan. I can play with full auto pretty much any time I want to. However I'll bring out some of my NFA goodies.

I am looking at schedule to attend and getting my weapons to Nevada from People's Republic of Kalifornia and storing them as I teach during Black Hat. As I get this nailed... I'll post a solid confirm... but for now, pencil me in for the basic package.
Though I am not cetified, I have Mil & LE range expience as RSO. If I can make to the shoot, I am willing to assist in those duties if they are needed.

Sign me up for basic. I did plenty of full auto in the army.... I will try to bring in a rifle or two. I was also a range safety and weapons instructor. I think I have a range safety card from Fort Polk somewhere. Of course that would have been about 15 years ago......

PLEASE NOTE - i have learned that i have to give a more or less solid list of attendees to the range organizers during a phone call later today. Whomever has expressed a desire to sign up and shoot is all good. We can still do the $20 discount for Class-III shooters who have signed up now. (It's $180 instead of the usual $200 for those folks)

However, after I give the range owner a relatively solid attendee list later today, i can have additional people, but additional Class-III sign ups might have to be at the "normal" $200 price. Again, this is not set in stone, but once we work out all the things that we are trying to work out... i may not want to repeatedly hassle the guy asking "oh, hey, can we rearrange the numbers yet again" etc etc.

Basic shooters just showing up to use the range with their own guns, their friends' guns, or to rent cheaper, smaller hardware there are still only looking at $35. That figure will not increase ever. (And may decrease if we get a late surge of "basic" shooters joining us)

If your name does not appear in white on the signup chart then you're not officially registered with me yet (i need a solid confirmation from you and your contact email address and a phone number as well if you're cool with giving me one)...
