Or is that just me?They could have made the thing twice as thick at the edges, which would make it just about the same thickness the whole way through, and actually give it real fucking ports. They could have even put in a user replaceable battery. If it cost maybe two thirds to a half what it does now, then it would be a good deal. As for frys or micro center, yea, I wander the isles just looking, like Thorn, I do the same at Home Depot and Lowes.

Ok, time to fess up. How many of you walk into a store like Fry's or Micro-Center and walk around shopping like women(no offense meant) do in a clothes store. Do you say I'm only going to go into the store for a few minutes or with a single task at hand and emerge hours later?
Raises hand.

Of course, I do the same thing in Lowes and Home Depot, too.

Re: Laptop Mods Anyone?
I agree wholeheartedly on all Deviant's above comments! I find great irony in the whole "why 1984 isn't going to be like 1984" when it seems so much like Mac is against the people when we can't even easily replace a drive on something. How many stories do we get to hear about people modding their iPods, etc? It's also why I find it horribly funny when people put OSX on their EEE Pcs for fun, too. ^.^
Ok, now what other things can we mod in my mac pain in the ass just to make it more rediculous for how old it is? Blu-Ray player?

That, and their horrible nazi-like support for de führer that is DRM.

No but if you make a hat out of the laptop it will stop the aliens from reading your thoughts.

Last night Deviant Ollam and I finished taking apart the Mac from hell...seriously, WTF is Mac thinking designing their stuff like that...and successfully managed to get all of it put back together, replacing the 60 GB HD with a 120 GB one AND fully installing OSX 10.4 (10.5?) on it without a hitch.
I can has ridiculous 5 or 6 year old ibook now!

Glad you got it working. The newer ones aren't as bad to work on. I think yours is the one with the shielding layer? Those suck to take apart. It's nice having that extra space though isn't it.
