I'm trying to decide on what to do about the state of affairs around a picture archive for DEFCON. https://pics.defcon.org/ is a picture management system with voting, comments, albums, etc. but it is a bit over engineered and I have yet to get bulk picture uploads to work flawlessly.
I have been thinking about ditching it and going to a less complicated system, or even using some outsourced solution like flikr. The reason I haven't is that I want to keep an archive of past pictures, and not have to worry that in 5 years flikr might be gone and something new is in its place. I have a lot of physical pictures from DEFCON 1 through 5, then hugh gaps as people went digital, then their web sites went away and there were no mirrors.
Chime in, what do you want to see? What would you use and contribute to? The goal is to share and comment on pictures from DEFCON and other things you find interesting.
