    I concur... :)

On 2008, I learned that no matter what I do or where I go, I can not escape from myself, nor my nature. Chances are, I will continue to help those I can, and putting behind bars those I must... then one day I will die, and there will be no one beside me. Life can be a bitch.

The desert is a pain in the ass, and that agony is best viewed up close.

I learned that being comfortable in a pretty good life isn't always good. I'm hoping to get out of my rut and try new things. Even if I fail, at least I was there and made the attempt. Maybe back to school? Maybe get through a bunch of books I've been meaning to read.

    First Time Post:

Stop focusing so much on the tech side and improve my coding.

Stop being so closed off towards music and new artists and get my money's worth of the extra space on my mp3 player.

Finish up the last steps of my attempt at gaining entry to law school.

Go to more parties, go to more class, buy more fish, get at least one more tattoo and one more piercing.

Eat more vegetables, eat more fruit.

Go to the freaking lava tubes.

I learned a lot in 2008 of what not to do; now is the year to make memories surrounding the things I need to do.

And despite the obstacles that stand in my way, I still hold onto the dream of getting drunkenly married at the star trek experience in vegas during Defcon (I know it's gone, I have that listed under obstacles).

This is my first post. Greetings :]

I have resolved to concentrate more on school work, develop more patience, especially in regards to people and frustrating situations. I've realized that I am too quick to respond to things as well, as opposed to thinking through my words and actions beforehand. and I resolve to not use as many substances this year...

Dude, just move to Alaska. I've learned that being unemployed for 6 months really really fucks up your credit. I've also learned that the doctors in Fairbanks are fucking morons.

Yes, yes it does. Though technically your heart is stopped for half your life.

I have learned not to be so damn serious and take time to smell the roses.
Eat and live a healthier lifestyle.

Perhaps I shall have a mid-life crisis. I expect to make it to 94 (statistically), and recognize that means this is really more like the last third, but still...

Life is precious. Time is precious. Live as though each moment is the last one.

I intend to rebuild my network, and try to live within my (IP allocation) means. Who knows? Maybe I'll finish that book I was writing.

I thought about adding in some stuff about being a kinder and gentler shrdlu, but we all know I'd be lying.

Not working for 3 months because your out of the country spending money makes it really hard to stay ahead.

That and the fact that I apparently have one odd reputation at one of my clients that has them telling stories of superpowers
I will take 3 months off and actually use it for my personal benefit.

I will finish some and actually publish some of my programs. Even if no one ever likes them or sees them.

I will continually be committed to not accepting fucktardedess from other people and not be so nice about fuctardedness in myself.

I won't cut my hair, I won't cut my hair, I won't cut my hair. It took long enough to grow it out and it looks pretty funky. I won't cut my hair.

I played violin for a couple of years. I am now going to try to find an electronic violin and go all weird ala the Geeks films.

I am committed to bench pressing more weight than Cjunky. :-)

I am committed to making every single one of you jealous of my joy, and asking me why.

I am committed to that next 9 or 90 year old with stars in his/her in their eyes. That's life y'all.

If you grok it, you do. If you don't? Nothing I can say can convince you.

    Regards,

    valkyrie

An old friend makes beautiful, intricate and finely crafted sculptures from old tools and bits of assorted scrap metal. When I first saw her work, I complimented her on her amazing welding skills.

'No', she corrected me, 'I'm totally crap at welding... but I'm shit hot with an angle-grinder'.

Last year I learned that if you've got a bunch of people who are good at and care about what they do, you really don't need a 'boss'.

This year, we're setting out to prove it.
