The linkedin group seems to be getting some spam.. I know on one of my other groups its happening really bad,. But it could be a good place to start.

Yes, but the poster has to be careful there too, as DT announced that spamming that list could lead to a member being removed from the Defcon group. I'd get permission from DT or someone else before announcing a job there too.

RULES ON SPAM - Please read (requires log-in with linked-in, Or you can read my copy/paste from that here:)

Mods have talked about this in the past, just as we've talked about a swap-meet (not to be confused with swap-meat, which might be a metaphor for something totally different.)

Anyway, it has come up before, but was viewed as something that could easily become a source of spam, or a thorn in our side. (No offense Thorn. :-) Additionally, it could easily become a place where the terminally stupid, "@5k 2 hire teh 3117 hax0rz," (Ask to hire the elite hackers) to break the law somewhere, and ask on a public forum.

Also, there are some people on these forums with some talent, but there are also a lot of people on these forums who know nothing, but fancy themselves to be hackers because they can tYpE iN aLtErNaTiNg CaSe tExT (type in alternating case test), or "31337 / 5m5 text" (elite / sms text.) They likely remain lurkers. Would you want to really announce a job offer to a group of people that range in skill-sets from nothing to people that can, "own your underwear," without you noticing you are suddenly naked, on the 50 yard line in the middle of the Superbowl. Really, there are employment resources on the internet that have resume and skill set advertisements, and searches that help people find jobs that work with their skill sets much better than posts on a forum.

We've even talked about having a user-subscribe-able space for jobs, too. However, that didn't get a nod from enough moderators either.

Right now, the rules in /dev/random *might* allow for this, but it could be very dangerous, as there is a rule in /dev/random about spam. All it would take would be one mod to consider a person's job offer as, "spam," and then there is a rule violation. I wouldn't risk it.
