first off let me say how much i love working the black and white ball . I have met some of the most incredibly talented people who share the same passion about computer security and other geekiness .

In the nine years i have been attending defcon professionally, I have climbed from a closing DJ slot to lighting tech and finally to talent booking and planning.
I have truly enjoyed the time I have spent working through all the stages of bringing the black and white ball to the masses.

I will be stepping down as talent / technical coordinator.

A close and personal friend of mine "Shem" is pleased to take over the reins of talent coordination
Shem has been one of the resident djs of defcons past and has been a great source of help when bink and myself have been in a pinch .
He has Produced a number of parties and gatherings in the vegas area.

He is excited to get this years ball rolling ( no pun intended) and is looking forward to all of your requests and submissions.
I will be on call for him should he need any thing at all.

So...Need to give it up to zziks, and our old pal bink for, everything...It's not a joke to say you guys "were" the Black & White ball...thanks for fighting so hard to deliver this event year after year.

Similarly to the band's, DJ's, and assorted music lovers who have been responsible for years & years of the live frequential manipulations and tranceable beats...you provide the aural setting for mental expansion...the brain hackers in UV Hats.

I've been Defcon's unofficial speaker jockey for some time, and was part of the logistics for the B & W last year... bottom line is I give a shit about making sure there is quality music and a crowd to appreciate it. I'm dedicated to keeping music alive at Defcon...

That said, any Band's, DJ's, Drumlines, and/or lyrical terrorists that want a shot at playing in the Entertainment Capitol of the World...send your pleas and demos to [TheCotMan Edited This: EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED BY REQUEST OF ORGANIZER]]... Some preference may be given to incumbents and repeat offenders, but unless your name just happens to be Miss Jackalope ov Orbis, there are of course no guarantees. There will be a number of slots given to first timers this year.

To anyone who is thinking about throwing their own killer parties on any or all of those nights: The B&W is a fully permitted venue on property, with a full service bar, a loud ass sound system, and free of worries of some drunk kid at your party puking in the hotel bed that you eventually might need to sleep in. So, why not get involved...we should at least be talking to maximize potential and provide a sufficient number of QUALITY options...stand together, or die alone. Thanks Girl...I've always said that Jackalope put the "kick ass" in "kick ass bass" :)

Hey Team,

I am back on the grid. I'll be reviewing suggestions and talking to management. Any ideas you may have for our open source audio/video extravaganza are both welcome and necessary. I'll be keeping a closer eye on the forums.
