So I left my webmail client running overnight and woke up to this message. Quite a bit of information there. Especially if you're doing a penetration test and we're looking for a 0-day exploit.
This is actually a vector thats being exploited. Malware/AV companies, as well as software producers, frequently push out signatures/patches ahead of the game to be able to block emerging (but known) threats. So, attackers are looking at the proactive steps companies are taking in terms of software patching and 'evil' signatures and reverse engineering the exploit.
So from the software side of things, that 0 day your internal testers found may not stay that way for long if you push out the patch. For malware folks, looking at the newest malware signatures from the anti-malware software companies can help identify new transmission vectors or propagation techniques.
