I bet this is the case: http://dallas.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pr...nced031208.htm
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

Even if that isn't her in the report, that's just priceless.

I'm fairly certain it is. The FBI report is out of Texas, and she's imprisoned in Texas, plus I found this:

So, if I'm reading this right, the "Conspiracy to Computer Hacking" she did was... her boyfriend spoofed caller IDs, she had some minor roll in that, and for that she's in federal prison?

                      WTF?

Perhaps she's being used as an example. You participate, even in a minor sense, in an activity that is not only illegal and dangerous, but asinine and juvenile, and you get the full weight of the proverbial book thrown at you. A bottle of Jager says that in the next 3 years a prosecutor in another swatting case cites this woman's case to get a heavy sentence.

EDIT: On second thought, make that a bottle of Maker's Mark... Jager gets me into trouble...

Maybe the mother should be charged as well since she knew of her son's activities and apparently even participated in some of them.

What's confusing? It's called "Accessory", and it usually carries the same penalty as the accused receives.

This woman is clearly an accessory by her own admission. Also. since the accused is under age, and she apparently knew about the bad acts, she could (and probably should) be sued civilly by the school systems involved.

I'd have to agree in this case....the mother knew all along and thought they were funny?
