  • Defcon Cannonball Run #5

It's been years and I didn't know I would ever plan it again...

... Dom Deluise has died and this one will be in his honor

Its going to be the same as past years but the details are still getting laid.

    - It's a race from Redondo Beach Pier to Las Vegas Riviera
    - There are no limits on how you get there
    - The prize is small
    - We dress in costumes
    - It will be on July 30th

I am missing the time clocks from the last event. I think Skroo has one and the other was in the NOC a couple years ago. Let me know if these can be located and it will help the race come together. Old sites are at http://moloch.org/cannonball

    Thanks.

Get a nod from DT on this, and I can make a forum for it.

I think we had a forum for it before.

    DT?

I believe it was covered in "Official/Unofficial Event/Contest not covered above" or something like that, before that it was ride sharing. It doesn't really matter, it's more for the people and Dom, rather that me. I have never gotten any glory from the race,...

        It is back! Wow!

OK, I think I saw a time clock someplace in storage. I'll see what I can find.

Great, I will contact Skroo if he remembers what happened to the other. It's my fault and my drinking habit if I cannot find it. I will just steal money from the A.A. donation bucket.

Looks like a nod to me. :-)

No worries. I create a forum for each recognized contest or event that is official or unofficial, so people can talk about it online. Heck, I even create one for Spot the Fed, every year, and it gets almost no traffic, but it is there in case someone wants to use it.

Forum created. Thread moved. Redirection left in place of old thread location which will last 2 weeks while the real thread remains here til doomsday on the forums.

            Present forum description is:
            CannonBall Run
The CannonBall Run to DefCon (site)
Changes? Space between Cannon and Ball? Drop the CaMeL CaSe? Better description? Website URL fine as it is?

            Thanks

              Re: Defcon Cannonball Run #5

I wonder if we can do like a tracking board, maybe just have people phone in every half hour with their location? Then put a marker up on a map on the wall or something? I had a great time hanging out in the AP bar years ago waiting for teams to come in.

I'll volunteer to help out on something like that.

The easiest way might be using Google Latitude, It would be a good representation if people didn't try to set their own location. Although it might not be as good as we might want it to be. Another way might be a twitter board or we can set up multiple bright kite venues as check points.

                  Re: Defcon Cannonball Run #5

FYI Everyone. I heard from Skrooyoo that he doesn't have one of my Time Clocks in Virginia. Tacitus told me that Queeg (I know, hearsay), that Queeg doesn't have the Time Clock either. Dark Tangent might have one, but that is just hope at this time.

If anyone has access to some time clock like an Accroprint Time Clock before I have to spend another $300+ for clocks, let me know. I don't like spending money on time, I like to bill for time spent.

                  Thank you for your patronage.

We went by a garage sale last night and found a time clock! I haven't tested it out yet, but I bet it works. So I can donate that. Will test it tonight and let you know.

I can confirm that DT is in possession of a timeclock here as well.

Anyone in the 303 have a time clock? We could figure out the winner of the entire cross country thing by averaging the miles/speed thing and then maybe use crazyiest (documented on video/audio) story about the drive as a tie breaker if needed.

Time clock acquired and is currently being delivered to tommee.

The year on it only goes up to 1999, but that just adds character!

Tacitus dropped off the time clock at the last drink up in questionable condition but got it working several minutes after screwing with it. I am still in need of the one that might be in Defcon storage, this is unknown.

I think it's time to update the Cannonball website but it's the Fouth of July weekend. Happy Fireworking.
