Just something I ran across while browsing the web..

    TSA Lock with Search Notification
    Instructions
    Good Pic

Basically it just has a window that is red or green, opening the lock triggers the window
to change, putting the correct combination in, and then rotating the shackle then resets the window.

    Pretty simple device..
Theres been a few times I couldnt really tell if my suitcase had been opened. Other times it was obvious.

Umm, been around for years and since it's a very simple master key, there's nothing to actually keep people out of your luggage.

I personally prefer zip-ties because its very obvious when they cut them that they will not be able to replace them. I often thing that they see those and just dont' bother.

of course, none of this would be necessary if the TSA screeners were obligated to drop in one of those "pwned by the TSA" papers every time they opened luggage. in fact, do people remember, way back when, those little papers would even have a stamp or signature on them in order to indicate what TSA officer was in there and at what time this happened?

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

I think when that was happening I was still traveling by way of the big gray airplane. We didn't use the TSA.

I've seen these locks around for a while in many forms. I think Master has one that has a cable rather than a shackle. Like what has been said, these are nothing to keep people, be it TSA, or thieving luggage handlers out, and I strongly doubt it would be a deterrent against unnecessary breaching of your luggage. I'd think taking it one step further than a zip tie would be more of a deterrent, something that you know a shady baggage handler wouldn't be able to replace on the spot. Maybe a zip tie with a small chunk of heat-shrink tubing on it, so it's not just your average, found everywhere zip tie.
