Regardless of how crazy any firearm appears to be, you need to remember, whether it's a .22lr or a 50cal BMG, they're still dangerous weapons. If you've never handled a firearm before, please read up on firearm safety before you get there.

Not saying you'd do anything silly out there but I think anyone that's contemplating handling firearms for the first time should be aware of how to be safe.

Exactly. Thanks for posting that, streaker69. mrhector, read up on NRA safety guidelines. It's basic stuff but very important. If you're doing something wrong, I'll let you know. I'll help you out when you're shooting.

Being safe is usually pretty easy; if you become interested in shooting, keep up on it until it becomes second nature. Or better, make it second nature before you go shooting next time ;)

This is my first Defcon shoot as well. What kind of firearm interested in shooting? Handgun? Rifle? Large or smaller caliber?

I'll be bringing my .22LR rifles, which are very easy and fun to shoot. If you were wanting to shoot something bigger, I'm sure someone else will have something for you (all I will be bringing otherwise is a 12ga shotgun). I wouldn't mind helping you out.

Hey guys,

This will be my first Defcon shoot and I am looking forward to checking out the event and meeting some cool people. I will not be bringing any guns and do not have any prior experience shooting.

Given that the location has changed and there will no longer be the option to rent weapons I thought I'd check if anyone would be able to help me out and give me the opportunity to shoot their guns. Of course I'll pay for any extra ammo but I figured it'd be wise to arrange something before heading out.
