Re: Congrats!
It is great to see so many people competing in such a great contest that demands selection of skills from many areas of study often associated with Defcon.
Good learning experience to all of the people that competed, even if they didn't win the contest, because they now know more about solving puzzles and might do better next year.
Great job again Grifter. Yeah, I know, you have moved on from the forums, because you are too good for us.... but twitter? Instead of the forums? Seriously? ;-)
Seriously though, you are a bright guy, and have an impressive track record. Will you come back next year if that is the last year lost will run this contest?
Also, good job Lost(boy) on another contest to cause attendees to scratch their heads so frequently, and with such vigor as to scrape off chunks of bone from heir skulls.
For those not at Defcon this year, Lost(boy) made an announcement that next year might be the last year he runs this contest at Defcon. (I may have misunderstood that.) If next year is his last year, everyone planning on competing better get out there and get to it!Last edited by TheCotMan; August 3, 2009, 17:43.

Re: Congrats!
Congrats to the winners and all the other teams who got really close! This was our first time competing and we could have done better, but we learned a lot! Wanted to thank all the other teams for being friendly even though we were all competing against each other. Hopefully we'll be back again next year!

Re: Congrats!
i'm dying to know... how did the locks that i sent to LosT get used? i specifically chose locks that could be decoded eventually, and wondered if he would integrate the combination elsewhere.
it's sort of neat because it could have been "clue leads to digits which is the combo" or "you must decode the lock and the combo represents something else you need"
i'm looking forward to seeing the whole writeup whenever it comes out."I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

2nd place - 2 way tie between Team Security Catalyst (Merged by the end with Grey Frequency Has A Posse <3 ) and Mobile Disco
3rd place - Losts boys / students - Sorry! I Forgot the team name and the video recording I saw was quite bad.

Deviant - I don't think the combo codes were specifically used later, but maybe someone else knows more than me.

The record stands...
Year One: 3rd Place
Year Two: 1st Place
Year Three: 1st Place
Year Four: 1st Place
I think it's time to step away. I wasn't going to compete this year, but at the last minute LosT convinced me to play. This year will be my last, I'll be relaxing at Defcon 18 with my sanity firmly intact. :D.: Grifter :.
