PentHouse related Bitterness to follow

I would first of all like to thank everyone that offered to help with the PentHouse party in advance....

EVERYONE that came out of the woodwork to donate, suggest, help, haul and support us was AMAZING! It really does me well to know that Icetre and I had done something that really did affect the way people felt about the entire con... enough so to offer to take up the bridle of monetary responsibility when we could no longer handle it. bravo guys, you are all good friends... made even BETTER by the way each and every one of you reacted to the news that we couldn't even have the party... no bitching, no pissing, no moaning. Just words of support and(this blew me away) offers to donate even MORE to cover anyone that requested a refund..... To say that the following doesn't happen often would be an BIT of an understatement, but I was stricken speechless... thank you all.

I am still dealing with things in regards to the Riv and should have updates soon on the entire situation....

While, the timing and the way things were handled..... poorly, I do still plan on investigating and moving forward with a party next year, though I am not immediately sure what reaction The Riv will have to that idea... we shall see.

Meanwhile, I am still hungover and I am pretty sure that I left a small chunk of my soul somewhere at the bar downstairs (if you see it, feel free to hang on to it for me). So, for now, I am off to grab a much needed nap and an even MORE needed shower.

Im most unhappy at the loss of our dead friend and his packages which he was watching over including that of Fake Dan. Cannot elaborate other than to say the Riv is watching.

My only question is what the heck happened with the party this year? I've heard so many crazy rumours about people in handcuffs so I am not even sure what to believe at this point.

No one was handcuffed or arrested. The Riv decided, after taking the money for the room up front, that they didn't want the party after all.

I will leave it to others to supply details, or assign blame.

The way the Riviera treated EVERYONE this year was just unacceptable - but the complete bullshit they pulled with Siviak blew me out of the water. You'd think with the current state of things, the Riv may have considered their actions a little more closely.

I also don't feel qualified to provide details, but suffice it to say we damn near had to get lawyers involved. The epic fail this year was just ... well, epic. I hope the the organizers either get something figured out with the Riv so they stop being such total douches, or that they consider finding Defcon 18 a new home.

Ah, this must be the party I was invited to that I couldn't get into. (Long story involving a few tipsy con-goers, helping out a goon, and navigating the Riv.) Instead, security was called on us because we were at the wrong party. I hope I'm invited again next year, but all in all it was an adventure in and of itself regardless of the cancellation.

Good to finally get closure on that though. Ichi and I thought we'd been socially engineered the whole weekend.

I had no idea what happened with the penthouse party the year since I was unable to attend. Thanks for the update of letting me know that at least everyone was OK.
