Yup, go to Long Beach for work once I determine what I am going to do. It's almost 500 miles for the day. But considering it takes me 30 minutes to get to just San Bernardino, making it to Union Station may as well be a trip to Vegas. Now if I lived in Long Beach that'd be different.

Incidentally, it just occurred to me that if that's your commute you shouldn't have too hard of a time making the L.A. meets since you're out that direction anyway - 710N to 5N to 101N, exit Alameda/Union Station, make a right on Alameda and you're there. If nothing else, you can turn up and wait out traffic :)

If I am on the west side of the 91 after 2pm I can hang it up. Although a late meeting like 6pm or so has its plusses, getting home before midnight is a plus for me. Maybe just this once we can do 3pm, see how bad you wanna get out of work. :)
Unfortunately, I consult so don't work set hours and can't abandon clients midstream to take off and do other things. Best I can do is juggle my time (not easy right now), or hope for a meet that runs later. Looks like that happened, though, so I'll try to make it around 8 or so.

I have wanted to go to a 2600 meeting but meeting in a train station in LA and staying up until morning is fine if you happen to live near there. I gotta get home before I turn into a pumpkin.
Heh, point taken. You know you are free to leave any time you want, though, right? :)

I'm close to the 91 myself and can generally make it back from downtown in about half an hour at night, since the traffic's pretty light after about 10pm.

I'm still down with the idea of a local meet, but 3pm is *way* early for me; I'm still working at that point (yeah, it's 2.15 now and I'm loafing, I know). Also, there is at least one existing local meet around here that happens weekly in Fullerton on Tuesday nights, which may also be an option.

The closest to the 91 is the orange block :)

I'd rather meet at whatever is closest to the 91 so I can get home sooner. Blackwave, go ahead and post it on the board and let's make it official. Post directions, time, etc, maybe we can make this a monthly thing if demand is great.

Hey! No ragging on L.A.! :)

This sounds like an interesting idea, though. Incidentally, if there are local folks heading out with the SoCal Caravan, this might not be a bad chance for some of the unfamiliar faces to get together and play who's-who prior to heading out.

Personally, if this is gonna go ahead, I'd rather meet at the Block than the Spectrum, but that's just my $0.02.

Sounds like plan both the Irvine Spectrum and the Block have identical facilities, games and beer, either is fine for me I am equidistant to either ;) 3pm is good for me as well.

Maybe one of us should announce this in the local meetings forums? :) I am not too sure if everyone reads all the threads as we do :)

Tomorrow I hope to check out a local 2600 meeting, hopefully some ppl will be there, but it seems pretty grim as of yet. Otherwise I am game for a meet on that day. No dress codes. I could do dave and buster's at the spectrum, or at the orange block... but if there are minors we may have to choose elsewhere.
I know this idea sucks, but hopefully someone will come up with a better one :)
