  • Virtual Defcon Experience IV to the neck!!!

I like that title it describes sort of what I wish I could have. I have not been able to visit a Defcon yet ( I hope to soon) . So I have been looking for years for tidbits of video showing the happenings and goings on at defcons, and I dont mean speakers and guests. While I enjoy slamming more knowledge into my head I would really like to see what its like to sit next to someone at a CTF event. I have seen a few short videos here and there and enjoyed them, but I was wondering if I was missing a great repository somewhere. Any help would be fantastic, thanks. I hope to join you soon.

BTW thanks for providing such an awsome tool (DEFCON) for the community.

Though things have changed over the years, filming or taking pictures of people in public spaces or the con floor at Defcon without permission is frowned upon. What you describe would more likely be something that would be associated with a Media badge, but that is just a guess. If you plan to do something like this, you should really talk to the goons about it, or get some sort of approval. People with Media Badges have been given specific rules in the past on filming.

There are plenty of pictures available that show parts of defcon. Some have moved to including video of specific events and put them on their image pages. For links to many pictures taken at many Defcon, check out https://pics.defcon.org/ and http://www.defconpics.org/ .

I think DT had planned to publish a number of videos with "qik" by using his phone. Those are probably still online: https://qik.com/_defcon_/videos

You can try searching for other defcon feeds at qik or places like qik.

There was also video from the confessional video camera at the info-booth/table in the contest room. Not sure where those videos are, but you can use google to find them.

The best parts of defcon happen outside the talks, outside the convention area. The talks are where one person talks to hundreds, and you're a nobody just listening. If you relax and just hang out with people then you'll actually get conversations. Just watch out because NBC may try to trick you into incriminating yourself. (search youtube for Defcon Madigan)

You can make quick friends by bringing people beer :)
