ensure and revive every day before leaving the room. emergen-c, multi vitamin, and milk thistle every night before bed. jerky, raw food snacks(veggies, fruits), cup o soups made with boiling water from the coffee pot, and at least one meal a day with friends at some place in the hotel or nearby. indeed.

I once lived out of a hotel for three weeks. Every night for dinner was chili, soup, or hamburger helper cooked on a single portable stove burner in the hotel (gotta save that per-diem money!).

I don't know what the hotel would think of such a thing, so packing the burner away when you're gone during the day would be wise. Also, I did drive there, so I have no experience packing one on a plane (though checked luggage should be fine).

+1 to the iron grilled sandwiches.
      +1 to an electric kettle.

Just be careful not to set the hotel on fire.

Coffee is a lost art, best not left to Starbucks.
I brew the beer I drink.

Just hop in a limo and take it through the drive thru of In-N-Out Burger

We usually bring a hotplate out and a couple pots for hot dogs and ramen. I'd advise stashing it away when your not in the room though as house keeping may report you and I'm sure this breaks some kind of fire code. H3adrush was telling me there is a KOA store near the manor lodge at the circus circus that is quite a bit cheaper than some of the other options for food/drink as well.
Other than that its just maybe one or two meals eaten out during con. Between midnight and 2 am the Golden Gate Casino has a New York steak and eggs special for around 5$ also over at clown town (Circus Circus) in their Casino cafe they have a graveyard special where you get two eggs, hash browns, toast, bacon or sausage and coffee for 5$ between 11pm and 5 am.

Your in-room coffee maker will work well for that stuff. You can also use your iron, as previously mentioned, but don't forget your hair dryer. Make a little warming tent and heat shit up. If you are feeling adventurous or want to relive your prison days, you could always make a stinger*

*note: please do not make a stinger.

Indeed. Please refrain from making a stinger at the hotel. what you set fire to in the comfort and privacy of your own home is your business, but the fire alarms aren't supposed to go off during con for an actual fire.

The Peppermill is really close and most people I know that have eaten there say its good and fairly priced. You also have the SW Steakhouse which gets good reviews.

Ate at the food court for the first time last year. I didn't even know it was up there until then. The food seemed as decent as any mall food court.

That and the hoffbrau were the only whole meals that I managed to get in.

I'm not terribly impressed with the food (fairly standard grill fair), and the prices are a bit high. It primarily wins on convenience. But...

The Pepermill's Nachos, Nachos, Nachos (Nachos^3, Tres Nachos, whatever) are absolutely fantastic. The beans come on an iron skillet so they don't destroy the high-quality chips, jalapeños are plentiful, and there is easily enough food for two people.

Someone (Syntax?) suggested a Thai place that is only a block North (across from the Stratosphere) that is open until 3AM, but I've never made it and I have no idea if they are still open. Still, might be worth looking for.

I generally make several trips to the subway across the street. (by circus circus)

I can highly recommend the grocery store + cooler of ice + things that don't go bad. A good idea is generally PB&J makings too, since those can be stored room temp.

My general habits result in the breakfast sit-down place in Riv once/day (whether it be at 4am or at 10am, depends on if i was awake late) sammich/snack foods for lunch, and some sort of group dinner at peppermill, best steakhouse, etc.

I try to alternate in the healthy option of subway as much as possible, especially if i didn't get to a grocery store.

For what it is worth, in my years at the con i have found that my body needs massive amounts of water to balance out the massive amounts of other liquids from evening activities. There are several grocery stores nearby that i frequent during the con. My shopping daily list consists of dry goods (jerky, peanuts, raisins, etc.) and a case water. I try to go out around 1800 each day to a sit down spot. I find that a realistic daily budget is $20, usually $7 at the grocery and then $10 for dinner + $3 tip.

One of the very first things I do when i get into Vegas is hit up Trader Joe's. I pick up fruit, flatbreads, milk, and bottled drinks.

I usually make a couple extra trips there at some point, and am perfectly happy to bring other people along for the same errand. I'll be at @cerephic on twitter, and will mention when I'm planning to head out. Feel free to contact me there.

Srphic, that would be great, ill be keeping an eye out on your feed. One can only have so much bad fast food, trader joes would be a welcome change. (Their lobster bisque from the premade quickpick section is freakin awesome)

Do rooms at the Riv have a minifridge that are free to use? Many places i have stayed in Vegas charge you if you touch their fridge/minibar. Even if anything is bumped or moved the sensors pick it up and autobill.

Now that you mention it... wtf I've been eating there every year and the food tastes like shit. I'll try and bring my backpacking stove and lots of snacky food =P.

                                Good idea on the Emergen-C...
