    DefCon 101 : Thanks & Boos.

    Thanks to everyone who came out for DefCon 101, I hope you all enjoyed it.

    Thanks to all the presenters : GodMinusOne, Jenn, Lockheed, Pyr0, Siviak, Lost

    Thanks also to Eris, Vandal, Xodia and Ripshy.

    Thanks to all the "world domination" game contestants for being good sports, especially those who got new names on stage (Buttercup, Soulless, etc...)

    Thanks to our speaker goon who I think we confused the shit out of.

    Thanks to All the people who attended and came up to talk to me afterward and throughout con.

    Thanks to all the DefCon Veterans who came out to the event to show their support.

    Most importantly Thanks to Runnerup for everything.

    Kudo's to everyone who made Avatar Badges and wore them around con.

    Boo to that certain person, for not showing up to present after they said they would.


    I think it was a very good event this year, we had a few hiccups but for the most part things went as planned. The lessons learned should make things better for next year.

    I preemptively apologize if I forgot to thank someone specifically.

      Indeed. :) Thanks HighWhiz!

      The new folks turned out to be pretty darn bright. (At least those that I met.) Many congrats and props to those who actually participated and kicked butt in the various contests.

      Also.. Buttercup. Dude. I feel for you. HighWhiz did a good job of mediating, but some of the audience heckles were too harsh.You have my respect for taking it in stride.

        Thanks to Pyro for really doing an amazing job his first year out of the chute.

        Thanks to Render for being the most famous speaker from DEFCON 17.

        Thanks to Grey for helping me give Render a hard time. Love you both.

        Thanks to Eddie Mize (or is it MEEZE?) for some more terriffic art. You are really a talented artist my friend. Thanks for helping Grommit enjoy her first DEFCON as well my brother.

          Yea, the heckling irked me. And buttercup as well as the other contestants were really good sports. I already have plans to do things a bit differently next year to avoid those few negative instances.

          Interestingly enough, I found many 101 attendees weren't brand new to DefCon and had one or two years at DefCon under their belt. That will definitely be taken into account when planning for 19.

            Highwiz, your talk is beginning to be a highlight at a con that doesn't even start until after your talk. :D

            It accomplishes exactly what it means to do and was a brilliant idea when you had it and is brilliantly executed. You can't stop heckling, it's how people take it that matters most. You did great with it this year.

            Siviak and Vandal and I really appreciate being included in it this year and it was a lot of fun running an introductory hunt. It was our first and was a little rough but it sure did gather in the troops.
