    Re: Badge Hacking?

Since I promised some screenshots, here goes:

Main menu. No. Really, that's supposed to be a goat.

An example of entering a 12 digit bar code.

    What it looks like.

    An 8 digit bar code.

I managed to win the black badge this year! My entry was a UPC-A (12-digit) and UPC-E (8-digit) bar code writer. You can select the bar code type you want, enter the digits, and it'll display the code. Up and down to select a digit, both to go to the next, and it'll repaint the screen if you stop pressing buttons for about a second.

From the main menu, press both buttons and it goes into a demo mode where it cycles through about ten codes, one every ten seconds or so. Down arrow to skip to the next, up arrow to return to menu.

Here are the (blurry) pictures I showed at the demo, of me testing the badge at the Target near the Riv, and one of what a UPC-A code looks like.

Source here, but unsurprisingly it's a bit of a hack. I'll try to post interface screens in this thread in the next day or so.
Great Job! I am glad to see a software mod won this year. I look forward to seeing the writeup from Kingpin. Congratulations.
