A friend of mine and I are putting on a hacker convention in San Francisco on February 18th. We are still looking for speakers. Check out the website to get a feel for what it's about. If you are interested in presenting, send an email to fie@metaz0ne.com with your name/handle, topic, runtime. (or respond here)

Also, feel free to let anyone else know about the convention that might want to speak/attend.

I seem to recall San Francisco is a pretty big city. Are people just supposed to arrive there and go to some random place for this "con" or do you actually have a venue reserved?
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

I think you're just supposed to wander around SF looking for other people into post-humanism. This looks too good to pass up, I'm gonna go book my plane tickets right now.

I return whatever i wish . Its called FREEDOWM OF RANDOMNESS IN A HECK . CLUSTERED DEFEATED CORn FORUM . Welcome to me

Great idea, I'll book my tickets and meet ya there. Except, I don't know what you look like, so I'll just wander around asking random people if they're noid.

It's too bad. I like SF, but I'm more of a Bauhaus Missing Link; post-modern pre-human.

Just make sure you ask if they're "the noid", rather "a noid." Although the latter will get you a lot more answers to the affirmative.

It starts on the last day of RSA security conference. We are the after party. The Defcon to Black Hat.

edit: sorry for the doucher comment...

FYI defcon came first, and we're not the blackhat afterparty. blackhat is for people who wear polo shirts. defcon is for people who actually do stuff and aren't just glory hounds who want thousands of dollars to give talks.
--- The fuck? Have you ever BEEN to Defcon?

I'm violating my number one rule. I have NOT had enough coffee yet, but seriously? Although someone else already beat me to this, Defcon is (contrary to the opinion or even behavior of some) NOT an after party to anything, thanks ever so much. In fact, in my very best southern lady's drawl, "Bless your heart."

I know many people who will be at RSA. Every single one of them has NEVER heard of you and your group. Never. Ever.

Dang (you say), what set poor old Shrdlu off this time? I actually spent a few minutes looking at your site (ten minutes of my life that I will never get back), and what really was the icing on the cake was the "contact" page. It's a web form! Are you kidding me? Not even an email address? I've been known to drop vendors because their contact page did not include any way to contact them (except for the aforementioned web form).

Although you've not actually come out and said where this is to be held, or what the price is, it appears to be at an Embassy Suites, and you appear to be hoping for "donations" of $10 (good luck with that). I also point out that you say you are not-for-profit. Note that you are making this statement in the State of California, which may or may not have some surprises for you, should you show up on anybody's radar.

                  Gah. Need. More. Coffee.

Just so you know, I've actually been pretty kind.

                      Thanks for your words. (seriously)

Also, your friends might not have heard about it before but now they have. That's the point of this, this is our first con. We don't have a lot of people working on this. Anyone who has ran a con, of any size, knows that it takes a considerable amount of effort. So please give me some leeway here.

PS, I changed the contact page.

But, my friends are not people who would ever consider going to this. Clearly you have no understanding of the background of Defcon (or RSA, for that matter), and do not grasp, even remotely, what kind of impression you've made here.

                        Here's a clue. It's not a good one.

Which area in the hotel do you have reserved for this? Because I hate having to roam around hotels trying to find things. I've found the floorplan of the hotel, so I'd just like to know which room it's in.

                          kthxbye.
