I hate to be a necromancer, but here's more Julia Stiles as the hacker "Max Mouse" for the DC filler archive:

You've heard of red boxes, but have you heard of assassin boxes?

The heydays of Defcon broadcast media in general peaked with The Voice of Mercury and "Mmm-bop Non-Stop."

Hey, Flea, if you find feedle, are you still going to fuckin' kill him?

Making it a challenge to get to would give it some fun and uniqueness for DCTV.
Please let me preface this with the fact that I like to see more participation and posts from new people, and hope that you continue. Now that that's established, let me state this: Before you jump into a thread, you really should have an inkling about what's going on with the discussion at hand. Otherwise you tend to make comments that make you look [how do I put this kindly?] uninformed.

DCTV was something that actually has a long history at DefCon. In the past there have been several cable channels within the hotel for DC attendees to watch. It hasn't existed in that mode for the last 5 years due to an issue with the Riviera's management and/or cable infrastructure not allowing it to function. However, some form of DCTV has existed in the chill-out area and CTF competition areas. (Mostly those areas have shown the "filler" content.) It looks like it may come back in the everyone-in-the-hotel-gets-it-via-cable this year. A lot of us are certainly hoping that it will be there in that format. There is at least one thread with it is discussed at length. If you search, I'm sure you will find it.

that is more awesome than ten gallons of Thai Iced Tea... which is already a pretty damn awesome baseline standard, in and of itself.

This really needs to go into the Defcon Filler as well:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLlj_GeKniA

It's a clip of Julia Stiles (recently of Dexter fame) from an episode of Ghostwriter. The clip pretty much stands on its own...

But I have to ask, can you jam with the console cowboys in cyberspace? Ever read Neuromancer?!

There will be, no doubt, just a question of how the schedule goes.

We have about 4 channels this year at the Rio, and are working on a schedule and "band plan" on what gets shown and what does not.

for example if we have more tracks or content streams than channels, what gets cut? etc.

We will have some session tracks as well as the favorite filler and schedule updates feed, HNN snippits, and more. When closer we will call for content.

And yes folks, it can be fun to hang out in your hotel room at Defcon... with people you only get to hang out with in person once a year.
DCTV Discussion and Planning for next Defcon.

I've updated the subject to include DCTV, DC TV, and Defcon TV for search-engines to find more easily when those terms are used.

Also, DCTV means many things to many people.Originally, i think it was one video channel at the AP with video content recorded and then [unreliably, and inconsistently] played back for hotel guests, then later expanded to maybe include a channel with movies about or related to hacking, and then there were presentations when more channels were added.

Exactly which DCTV is "the real" DCTV is complicated to specify with authority.

I think the easiest would be to call all of them together "DCTV" and then you can have DCTV: Movies, DCTV: Filler, DCTV Movies & Filler, DCTV: presentations, DCTV: information, etc. It would help to be specific in which parts of DCTV you are interested in, but most have been discussed or mentioned in that thread.
