Please don't pile on. This isn't a complete flame but there was no need to jump into it. This was directed to Admins and replied to by an Admin.

          Re: administrator request

That thread you cite has an amazing post by you, and I am glad we still have it in the rules section. It explains the issue in language that flamers tend to understand, and has been very effective over the last 2+ years since we moved it to the rules forum. It has been a long time since it has been a problem.

Xenos: We have this policy of not deleting threads for many reasons:
          * A person is evaluated by their presence on-line and we look to their behavior as a whole to better understand a person and their history to determine if an event is really an exception for an individual or a growing trend.
          * Removal of threads can be viewed as a form of censorship, and even though we avoid politics on the forums, many people will agree that censorship is often harmful. (I admit that I do, and will continue to censor spam on these forums. Don't reply to spam, because I take entire spam threads away from public view and dump them in to my own personal archive, so I can create better methods to filter spam. Also, understand that this is not a loophole for getting threads deleted; when spam appears later in a thread, the spam and all replies to the spam are moved to my non-public spam-can. )
          * Removal of threads is harmful, as it often means destroying other people's contributions to threads, and silences their thoughts from history on the forums. (See censorship. We have also applied censorship by editing posts in Fucktard Hall when people that have earned their place in Fucktard Hall.)
          * Removal of specific posts in a thread is harmful to the flow of a thread, as people that were replying to one person would appear to now be replying to another person. (See trolling and facebook to see how this is abused elsewhere.)
          * Except for places like Fucktard Hall and /dev/null, and closed forums, users can edit their own posts for up to 24 hours after they first create a post. Forum Leaders/Organizer are NOT mod or admis but can do something similar to editing thier own posts after 24 hours within just the forum for their contest or event, but it is a tedious and convoluted process. Mostly, they can manage threads within their forum, and move posts away, or soft-delete posts, but not perma-delete posts.

With all of the above, then people ask, "well then, edit my post to remove BLAH," but that has problems:
          * When people reply to posts, they often "quote" parts of other people's messages in their reply, and the content is still in their posts. Should we resort to censorship of other people's posts to alter history for one person? No.
          * I am lazy, and I would not expect any other mod or admin to do something I am unwilling to do.

Any other mod is free to reply with their own thoughts, as each mod and admin runs independent of their peers, but "we" have discussed this kind of thing in the past, and there is almost no disagreement on how to handle requests like this, and mods tend to avoid stomping on the decisions of their peers. Mutual respect can unify people even when they have different opinions.

And you look awesome, especially in a white bathrobe.

(That sounds so gay, HiWiz is going to be wondering what he missed at Shmoocon.)

yeah, how come i'm the only one i've seen in ShmooCon photos in a bathrobe? there must have been some cameras around Roamer and GM1 at some point.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."
