i love this. love it, love it, love it.

anyone with graphic design experience want to talk fonts? what is the most "government" style or TSA-like font? Helvetica? something else?

i want to see "No gels, liquids, or aerosols" on the front of the shirt, and something like "DEFCON 19 Shoot, Las Vegas, Nevada 2011/08/04" on the back, etc etc. just want it to look appropriate to the TSA theme.

P.S. - should there be shoes elsewhere (removed) with anything in them?

the most "official" looking fonts the printer offers is something called "Stencil BT" and "Impact", the rest are very....uhh...whimsical? We could do Comic Sans...

If we don't like one of those we'll have to do the text as a graphic and upload it, which should be fine, might add a tiny bit to the cost (images seem to affect the cost more than using their text tool).

I grabbed one of the xray images earlier and threw it in their tool and it looks like I could still hit $15 for the staff shirts and $20 for the participant shirts assuming about 40 shirts.

Here is what the back looked like:


Obviously the final image won't have the big black block around it.

A font likely recognizable but difficult to find would be the one used on U.S. currency that reads, "FEDERAL RESERVE," because even though the federal reserve is not, "the government," many people associate the currency that proclaims the same name to be from the government.

Another choice is to go, "everyone is a number," and use the font used for so many years with magnetic ink on paper checks, mostly to print numbers. The same stylized results might convey a sense of that you "will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is NOT my own." A number 6 might be amusing, though the reference is a bit dated. Negation of the comment or a return to the original quote as desired for sarcasm or social commentary.

Another option would be crayon with text, "TSA protectorizin U evee day!" (TSA Protecting you everyday)

ARMY Fonts often used with stencils and spraypaint, though that has been over done and military is not the same as TSA.

It does not matter where you go, and I don't care if you use any of these ideas. It is looking more and more like a short design I mmight buy, depending on how it looks on the colors of tees available. :-)

Is this going to be a laminated/peel-off style of tee, or will it be "ink/dyed" with the design? (Yes, I recognize the difficulty of this on black tees, but I ask anyway, as it looks like your image choice is complete and that often dictates which kinds of tee shirt manufacturing can be used, and that often limits the colors available.

Blending added (not finished). Switched to Xray AR15. Added sling and grenades.

Nice, I'd suggest a black shirt so there isnt a huge black square printed on the back.

Can we get a pistol in a holster on the person's left thigh? I know he has them in a suit case but his left thigh seems almost unarmed

I like the additions of sling and grenades, not so sure about the map overlay. I think it's a little busy, and even if we do it on a black shirt I think it's going to wind up looking a little odd where the continents just cut off at the sides and whatnot. I toyed around with making the "water" areas transparent, and still think it looks a little off. If we kill the background and keep xray man and the text, I think it works for the previously discussed grey/orange/yellow shirts (assuming the black areas would become transparent).

But I'm just one guy, if everybody else digs it as is then we can run with it, we'll just do all black shirts instead of the different colors for RSO and security.

The more suggestions the better. I like the idea of everyone running black shirts and maybe just changing up the color of ink....or just doing the front shirt decal differently as i think this will look best in the white/blue hue.

I want to add a thigh holster and would prefer to remove the grenades. I can work on blending more but ran out of time last night. The background was a tester. I like it without...but maybe a few light brushes, I'll demo a new one tonight. I hope to be off early and luckily this weekend is completely freed up.

The briefcase looks to be sharper than the person, will it all work out in the end?

I'll pay extra for XLT. Please, longer shirts for those of us with spare tires!

Turned out to be a busy weekend.
Further blending. Added a leg holster and boot knife. Changed up the Opt Out and DC19. Brief case was sharpened and contents were dulled a bit.

Damn, that's really nice. I can't make it, but I want a shirt!

Personally I would drop the glow around the letters and just go with outline.

The work on the XRay is top notch though. I am blown away. Honestly didn't think it would work.

I like the design but I think having two of the little skull and crossbone things for "O"s looks a bit iffy. I saw a post earlier about obscuring the crotch with one of those, have you played with that to see how it looks at all?

Do you have a link or the image by chance? I'll try a piece tonight. Having a hard time visualizing it.
The lettering is the easiest part so I'll make a couple variations tonight.

I don't think there was ever an image created that shows it. I believe what kuji is referring to is astcell's comment: "And as the gender of this image is oddly androgynous, how about putting the defcon happy face and crossbones logo over the genital area? "

Would it be as simple as using regular Os for Opt Out and moving one of the existing defcon happy faces down to the crotchal region?

All in all I'm happy with it either way, I think you've done something great here. If we can get the image finalized I can get a firm quote on printing costs and start accepting orders, and the sooner that happens the better.
