There has been no further updates on him or his condition since his discharge that have been made public. We can only hope he is recuperating, resting, and getting the care he needs. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and please consider becoming a bone marrow donor or give blood. Thank you!

This raises an important question .. when do potential donors need to _stop_ drinking to successfully donate? ..seeing as the range of festivities extends as early as 1 week prior to Defcon.

I've never given blood before, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to do this, so these questions may be of general interest..

As a first time donor, what do I need to know? What do I need to do? What can I do before I show up to speed things up?

Don't be drunk. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Eat iron rich foods for a few weeks before hand. Eat a meal before you donate. Be prepared to show ID. Don't be drunk. Wear a loose shirt or a short sleeve shirt. Have I mentioned, don't be drunk?

One warning: If you give blood you must be aware that you are now a 15 year old girl if you drink after. You WILL NOT be able to hold your booze the way you are used to. HYDRATE.
