Priest:: The irony is that there also is an alcoholic ice cream creating contest going on either at the same time or somewhere near when Hot Sauce Wars is getting run. Maybe they can create virgin ice cream?
YES, I would love to have you on as a judge for whatever time amount you can spare.
Surreal: Mission Chips noted. I like those, too.

Maybe we'll just turn it into a Scotch Bonnet eating contest for audience money after the real judging goes down.

Chips and criteria

It'd be mighty nice to have some cold Thai iced tea or Thai coffee on hand. That stuff's miraculous when your mouth's in distress.
So... I'm unaware of a special vocabulary for hot sauce tasting like the wine spitters use. You know: earthy, fruity, balanced, tannins, bouquet, blah blah blah. Maybe use a zero-to-nine scale for "tasty", "hot", whatever else someone cares about? Zero "tastes like ass", nine "OMG I need a case of this"?

Re: Seeking Judges!
I'm down. (If it doesn't burn both way it wasn't hot enough) I would say chips would only be good if it was a salsa type sauce. Straight hot sauce taste funny to me. With something else it's a good counter flavor that brings out the kick and then you know its good.
Chip for salsa style..
Small chicken strip can be the cheep microwave ones for others. It's tasty and allows for a swift kick.
For the hotter stuff slice of a cheep burrito poor it on..
For the brave open wide!
Just thinkin is all..

And before you ask... Yes if you are interested come find me at con and I will show you how to rip someone's lips off their face. Its surprisingly easy to do. Don't worry I won't actually do it to you or someone else unless they have it coming.

I would almost volunteer for this, I actually like the taste of habanero, and the local Indian restaurateur calls me "brother", but I'm afraid I might be out of my league! But when has that stopped me before?
I'm in if you'll have me!
Stupid useless info:
Spell check suggests in place of "habanero": Habakkuk, Phanerozoic, Aneroid, or Handbarrow.

Hello Jackalope...
If you need a judge for this I might be able to help out. Caveat being that I am allowed to spit, drool, shoot snotballs, randomly punch people about the face and head, and vomit as needed.
My credentials are that I was in a fraternity in college where this kind of game was done all the time and I enjoy Indian food for Indian people with all the associated spicing.
Oh and someone has to have some decent ice cream on standby for when we're done so I can have something cool to look forward to when I am sitting on the bog with my arse on fire shatting foot long blue green flames 12 hours from completion.

YES PLS EVERYONE!
It's looking more and more like it'll be Friday around 2-4 or something right now....
Maybe we'll just turn it into a Scotch Bonnet eating contest for audience money after the real judging goes down.

My boyfriend, who's a chef (at a Michelin starred restaurant, no less) is willing, able and would love to be part of the judging. Especially since there's no toxic BBQ this year to occupy him at the con! Let me know what you need from me to get him all setup.
Thanks!
I drink hot sauce to cool off.
I be happy to judge.

Hot Sauce Wars is currently seeking judges for taste/flavor and also just straight out looking to see who the ballsiest person is with some hot ass sauce and / or some ghost pepper action. IE, bragging rights.
Running this contest in the contest area, probably on Saturday for a couple hours, won't take a lot of time, try a lot of new sauces and maybe even some old favorites/avisaries on the wayside, too, earn bragging rights.
PM me, post here, get your friends involved! Start seeing sauce.

Re: Seeking Judges!
Is it going to be Hot Sauce on chips, on a spoon? I love hot sauce and salsa, but I'm fond of my guts, too. I'd love to judge if I could wimp-out and leave some of the masochist-grade brews to someone else.
Credentials: 2nd gen Phoenix native, and I consider pickled jalapenos an appetizer.
Surreal
<Le sigh> This was going to be My Year for Coffee Wars. I've been working tirelessly (sleeplessly, anyway) in my garage with my trusty hot-air popcorn machine and green coffee beans.
