Since Maryland has decided to continually ram more and more cigarette taxes straight up my ass (currently Maryland tax is $1.00 per pack, national avg is 45 cents), I figured I would try this out. Worst case scenario I am out 14 bucks.

I don't know if that's the same site/group but I have a friend that tried the online ordering thing and thought it was great, quite a price difference even after shipping costs. Then again, I have another friend that was all pumped up about weeed (yes, 3 "e"s), so for what it's worth...

Haven't used them specifically, but another online vendor was selling 'em for about that price a couple of years ago. Bought two cartons of Marlboro's and they ended up being the "Euro" brand. Tasted funny, never tried it again.

My wife's daughter lives in North Carolina. the tobacco state, and she ships us cigaretes, we save about 33% ore more. Crazy taxes!

most of the cigs on that site are manufactured in europe but hell cigs are cigs

I could be wrong, but aren't cigs tax free on base? If it's a big difference in price, I have no morals that keep me from passing along the savings.

I can only stand smoking Djarum Black :) Those smell so nice and taste soooo good, so sweet.. yummy... though I can tell you that these babies cause something or another to bleed, because if i smoke more than a pack a week, i wake up and cough for about 10 minutes and spit out saliva filled with blood... Don't know if it is just from the throat being irritated and coughing.. or coming from anywhere else...

any other cigarette does't do it for me... if i can't find the black I settle for the others.. but i think Black is the best they have come out with for their international brands.

I tried those little bidi's made out of leaves.. and that is just something i don't plan on doing again... even though I try to give them a chance now and then... they just suck.

... also I can't find these at a discount rate anywhere online...

Actually, the commissary jacked the prices up a couple of years back to "discourage" smokin. Fuckin jerks.

damn I mean if your gonna smoke then smoke dont raise the fukin taxes on cigs, that not going to stop people from smoking its only going to make them give up more of there money. ahh its not right that a commission can decide to increase the tax on an already taxed product for my safty, I never asked them to interfer with my fate....

i could ramble on about this for quite some time but I think I'll stop now before it gets bad.

Yea, the base exchange bans pornography magazines, but they have alcohol and tobacco, and that change was under Clinton.

The base was great for buying stuff when I first enlisted, but today you can get everything cheaper at Wal-Mart. The base is not what it used to be.

Growing your own tobacco
Type of soil requested for growth

Most soils will suit plants, excepte heavy clay which needs breaking up with peat. Tobacco can also grow on sandy soil where other plants often fail.
Second years crop will adjust soil and conditions and often will produce better tobacco.


Plants watering

Plenty of water must be available as tobacco plants are a thirsty crop.


Method of growing Tobacco

Seeds initially require temperatures of 70-80ø F, so they start growing in a propagator.
Once at the seedling stage, a recommended 60øF is required for the plants to grow.
It is better to transplant the seedlings into small pots and keep them indoors for this stage.
After this stage of about 12 weeks they can comfortably grow outside (in frost free conditions)


Equipment necessary to grow tobacco

You will require a PROPAGATOR, unless you have an outdoor temperatures of at least 55-60F (18-20C). You also need land to be able plant outside (for example a garden). Ideally you could use a greenhouse as it is a simple and inexpensive way to take care of your tobacco. If you do not have a of greenhouse, you have to build a safe chamber with a floor area of at least 1 square metre, which can help you grow your own tobacco plants in as little as 1 month.


Do climate and weather conditions affect tobacco growing?

Colder climate environments do risk some crop failure, but that can happen with your first crop, your second and successive crops should acclimatise to your local climate in fact. In high wind areas the plants should be staked out, in very wet areas plants should be raised on ridges to allow for drainage.


Curing tobacco

After the tobacco is harvested, it is cured, or dried, and then aged to improve its flavour.
There are four common methods of curing, and the method used depends on the type of tobacco and its intended use.
1- Air-cured tobacco is sheltered from wind and sun in a well-ventilated barn, where it air-dries for six to eight weeks. Air-cured tobacco is low in sugar, which gives the tobacco smoke a light, sweet flavor, and high level of nicotine. Cigar and burley tobaccos are air-cured.
2-In fire curing, smoke from a low-buring fire on the barn floor permeates the leaves. This gives the leaves a distinctive smokey aroma and flavour. Fire curing takes three to ten weeks and produces a tobacco low in sugar and high in nicotine. Pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, nad snuff are fired cured.
3-Flue-cured tobacco is kept in an enclosed barn heated by flues, or pipes, of hot air, but it is not directly exposed to smoke. This method produces cigarette tobacco that is high in sugar and has medium to high levels of nicotine. It is the fastest method of curing, requiring about a week. Virginia tobacco that has been flue cured is also called bright tobacco, because flue curing turns its leaves gold, orange or yellow.
4-Sun-cured tobacco dries uncovered in the sun. This method is used in Turkey, greece and other Mediterranean countries to produce oriental tobacco. Sun-cured tobacco is low in sugar and nicotine and is used in cigarettes.

Yes, but these plants require more care and attention than some other plants. You must follow the very clear insructions provided with every pack of tobacco seeds, enhanced by feed back from existing customers, and your success will be guaranteed!

Thats a cool idea, but buy the time your plant grows and the end of the 12 weeks or so and that one plat only makes like 5 cigaretts, by that time your like dying for a cigarette. hehe :D

True, but let's say people form tobacco growing clubs... of course this is something PM would try and eliminate by lobbying Uncle Sam to regulate this type of activity as illegal as growing other plants... with the schooling that if the US can't tax it.. something must be wrong.
