    Question for Security Goons:

At https://forum.defcon.org/showthread.php?t=12343 they indicate that the latest word is that the Def Con pool will close at 0100. Previously it had been announced it will be available 24/7.

Does anyone have a definitive word regarding this?

    Thanks.

The AP removed fountain pools by the buildings and replaced them with grass and fake rocks.

They also got free, updated, brand new lights every years thanks to us. No more old lights there!

They were only too happy to bill us for the foam and dye, and you know they made a healthy profit.

As I remember it people walked down the path in a drunken stupor and ended up kicking/tripping over plastic lights that were spiked into the ground and thus breaking them off.

I'm surprised that AP never figured out they should pull the lights before DC.

I'm also surprised they didn't learn to drain out and empty the fountains before DC. Would have solved the foam and dye problems.

But maybe I'm being to logical about it.

No. They were walking on the pathways that were getting covered in the foam generated by the fountain.

The Rio does actually know what they are getting themselves into? Right ;)

To be perfectly honest, we're FAR from anti-fun. We were all attendees before we were goons and we LOVE the awesome, creative, pranky side of defcon. I thought it was funny as hell when I woke up at the AP and found the fountain died purple. I almost lost it when I watched a dude jump in for a photo and then jump out dyed blue! AND THEN, he ran over to the jacuzzi and jumped in WITH HIS CELL PHONE IN HIS HAND!

In fact, here's a picture of the dude all blue:

Now with all of that said, please understand, there ARE consequences to your actions. If we catch you dying that fountain, you'll probably be on the hook for the cost of cleaning it up. If you really want to be awesome, come up with pranks that make the whole of defcon want to run over and take a look, say wow, laugh a little and then walk away with no damage or injury. Total win.

We REALLY appreciate all of the supportive msgs from you guys, it's always nice to hear that we're appreciated, I've always felt that goons are a part of the defcon experience, like CTF or hacker jeopardy. But that's not really what this thread is about, so if you have any other questions or concerns, PLEASE, come forward with them! If you feel like you'd rather keep it a little more private, you can msg me directly and I'll put it on this thread without your name so that it can be addressed publicly.

Again, thanks for the input, we're here for you guys!
