Plans are underway for the DEFCON 20 Goon Band. First and foremost we have some sad news. Russ and Greg have decided to retire from the Goon Band. Russ has been battling hearing loss in one ear for years and just felt like he couldn't give 100% to the Goon Band anymore. Since Greg was co-located with Russ in the Springs he decided that trying to practice alone would put a lot of strain on the ability of the Goon Band to put on a quality show. One of the most difficult things with the Goon Band has always been our geographic dislocation and inability to actually practice together more than once or maybe twice a year. To that end Greg decided to step aside and allow the Goon Band to find a new bass player.
Now...for the good news (tm). Redbeard, who stepped in for the Goon Band last year because of the death of Greg's father has agreed to join the Goon Band full time. Additionally, that magnificent bastard Deviant Ollam has agreed to join as the full time singer of the Goon Band.
The new lineup for DEFCON 20 is:
Deviant-Lead Vocals
Roamer-Lead and Rhythm Guitars
GodMinusOne-Lead and Rhythm Guitars
The Most Interesting Man in the World-Bass
Rich-Drums
We are extremely excited to give this lineup a go. Redbeard, Roamer, and I all live in the same area and can practice together on the reg. Deviant is close enough to get together occasionally and Rich has agreed to fly his ass all the way across the country at least once so we can do a full band practice.
We are currently working on the setlist for this year. We have some songs we've played in the past coming back, we've picked a few new ones and we are always looking at face melting songs to do. Have a suggestion? Let us know. If it sucks we'll tell you.
We want to make the DEFCON 20 Goon Band show the best yet. We may even play Smells Like Teen Spirit all the way through this year. Hold on to your fucking seats...nah fuck that, get out of your seats and mosh motherfuckers.
