  • Talk: Introduction to NFC

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a set of standards for close proximity communications between two devices or a device and a tag over 13.56MHz, which is quickly gaining in popularity on mobile devices. This one hour talk will begin with the basics of NFC, then cover the protocols and standards involved (LLCP, SNEP, NPP, NDEF, etc.), various modes of operations, and tag types. We will discuss the best hardware to use in order to interact with NFC capable devices and tags, then move on to vulnerabilities discovered in NFC, and NFC capable devices, as well as attacks which have been implemented against those vulnerabilities. We will conclude with how to most practically implement those attacks yourself.
